About the Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you are responsible for the heavy overhaul, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial mechanical equipment at the CAP to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of large pumping plants, generation stations, check structures, turnouts and aqueducts. Supervises crews consisting of journeyman-level trades including millwrights, machinists, certified welders, crane operators and other labor disciplines that perform overhauls, installations, modifications, troubleshooting and predictive and periodic maintenance of plant equipment and systems. The plant equipment includes synchronous motors, large pumps, hydroelectric turbines, radial gates and hoists, slide gates and hydraulic operator systems.
Some specific responsibilities include:
1. Manages and controls work execution. Directs craft and trade employees in the performance of approved maintenance activities and tasks and responds to callouts to ensure reliable systems operations. Manages and controls quality, duration, cost, and thoroughness of all work under jurisdiction. Monitors each job closely by frequently visiting worksites to ensure job quality and progress, and reports to Water Operations any changes in duration or other conditions that impact operations.
2. Manages employee performance, hiring, and pay reviews. Ensures that the conduct of maintenance team members is consistent with the expectations of the organization and in adherence company policy, management practices, and safety requirements. Evaluates employee job performance and initiates corrective actions and measures when appropriate. Acts appropriately to resolve employee concerns.
3. Assists Manager in developing the Division budget and is responsible for compliance spending within the approved budget. Provides timely progress reporting to Manager on all maintenance costs. Measures maintenance performance and assures performance is within established company maintenance standards.
4. Ensures that all work has a valid work order and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) with required approvals. Requests, writes, reviews, performs, and/or designates authorized staff to perform switching procedures in compliance with the Hazardous Energy Control Program. Verifies accurate distribution of time and materials to specific jobs and ensures accurate work order closure information, including proper entry of failure cause, action taken and condition found codes.

About the Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years of recent experience in the operations and maintenance of systems and equipment associated with large water delivery systems including pumping/generating plants, substations, switchyards, aqueducts and associated auxiliary equipment or other industrial facilities/environments that operate and maintain similar systems and equipment.
- Associate's degree or higher in an applicable field; OR completed state-approved apprenticeship in the related field; OR the equivalent combination of training and applicable experience (which must include at least three (3) years of additional related work experience plus a high school diploma or GED).
- Two (2) years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience within the industry.
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Preference given to candidates who have experience with Arizona Department of Transportation regulations, heavy haul equipment transport and crane experience.
Required Certifications or Licenses:
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and requires physical testing.

- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM)
- Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)
