Job Title: Production Manager - Mechanical Products

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Vice President of Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates activities of the production departments in processing materials or manufacturing products; develops and administers various programs designed to improve productivity; and recommends plans for advancement and improvements in the manufacturing engineering services, layouts, processes, equipment design, and reduced operating expenses by performing the following duties either personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Confers with Management, Engineering, Quality, Sales Teams and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Assures continuity of manufacturing operations through maintenance and development of process methods and machinery in relation to the needs dictated by management, quality standards, and sound economics.
  • Through direction and coordination of the manufacturing engineering group, evaluates and analyzes the design of each application to determine the most economical and functional systems, methods, procedures for manufacture, appropriate tools, equipment, and facilities.
  • Reviews production orders, generates work orders, and builds production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, specifications of products, and scheduled delivery dates to plan department(s) operations.
  • Establishes priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications, shipping deadlines, while controlling inventory levels.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices, ensuring employees comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains an effective organization through selection, training, and motivation of all personnel under his/her control. Directs subordinates in the management of their assigned responsibilities to ensure that they meet objectives and attain satisfactory operation and performance.
  • Complies with and conducts business in accordance with the letter, spirit, and intent of all relevant laws and regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions; wherefore, refrains from any illegal, dishonest, unethical conduct. Maintains communications with all employees, vendors, customers and others in a cooperative and professional manner, while treating them in with dignity, respect and courtesy.
  • Performs other related duties as required and may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages up to a total of 40 employees in various production departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, training, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Production Management or Engineering.
  • Work Experience: Five (5) or more years' applied experience in production supervision or management, and/or training.
  • Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.


In addition, this position requires:

  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows interface, Microsoft Office package (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and databases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication / presentation skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills, exhibiting a professional manner in dealing with others, with the ability to work in a team environment across multi-department organization.
  • Familiarity with FAA, OSHA, EPA, and related state and federal regulations.
  • This position must meet "US Person" Export Control Requirements as defined by 22 CFR 120.62 - "US Person means a person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)."
