Description
Mechanical Project Designer (Multiple Positions) (Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.; Chicago, IL): Develop advanced mechanical systems designs with minimal supervision for healthcare projects. Conceptualize basic mechanical building systems including coordination with architect, structural engineering and other disciplines on the project. Read, analyze and interpret technical documents, specifications, technical procedures and government regulations as they pertain to healthcare engineering projects. Perform initial onsite existing conditions review and prepare field survey reports for client assessment. Prepare Basis of Design documents and perform HVAC load calculations. Analyze existing HVAC systems and design new HVAC systems. Review and ensure compliance with International Mechanical Code, ASHRAE, and LEED per project requirements. Review submittals and shop drawings, prepare construction documents for bid and permitting, and provide responses to RFIs. Articulate scope and coordination items to clients, vendors and team members. Prepare project deliverables per the client's intent and scope of work as outlined in proposal. Fulfill construction administration duties onsite which includes technical site inspection of installed mechanical systems for compliance with contract documents and formation of exceptions list/field observations. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Salary range is $101,652 - $140,800 per year. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, & work location. Individuals in this position may be paid a discretionary bonus. #LI-DNI #GTM
Qualifications
Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience with the following: Steam systems for heating and humidification in hospitals; Nitrogen systems for use in Labs; Mechanical systems used in the heating and cooling of schools, universities, hospitals, and labs; BIM modeling systems including set up, schedule and family development; HVAC nomenclature, design techniques, materials, system components, construction techniques, related engineering systems, and prevailing building codes; and Researching, calculating, analyzing and documenting technical systems to present to clients.
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week, depending on business need.
Travel to various locations throughout the US required up to 10%.
