Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical tests on large engines and engine components.
- Utilize data acquisition systems (e.g., Siemens Test Lab/LMS, National Instruments cDAQ, or HBK/HBM) to collect and analyze test data.
- Instrument test setups with accelerometers, strain gauges, and other sensors to measure engine performance and durability.
- Process and interpret test results, presenting findings in reports, charts, and tables for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work collaboratively with lab technicians, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful test execution.
- Conduct field testing of engines and gensets in real-world environments, requiring up to 25% travel.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and instrumentation issues, recommending improvements to enhance test accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage multiple test projects, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high quality and precision.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with 3+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1-3 years (including internships).
- Mechanical Expertise: Strong foundation in internal combustion engines and rotating machinery (e.g., engines, generators, pumps, turbochargers).
- Instrumentation & Testing: Experience working with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation such as accelerometers and strain gauges.
- Technical Communication: Ability to present data in clear, structured formats using tables, charts, and technical reports.
- Project Management: Skilled in managing multiple test projects, coordinating tasks with lab technicians, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in mechanical testing, vibration analysis, or structural dynamics testing (including internships or university research).
- Familiarity with genset testing or experience in field testing environments.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python for processing and interpreting test data.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative and attention to detail for accurate test execution and reporting.
- Experience with mechanical modifications or component fabrication is a plus.
