Description:
Full-time Medical Director is needed in the Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), operated by Suffolk County Department of Health Services, Division of Community Mental Hygiene. The Medical Director plans, directs, and coordinates the medical aspects for all Opioid Treatment Clinics.
Locations/Hours:
North County, Hauppauge, and East End OTP clinics
Monday - Friday (6AM - 2PM), Tuesday-Saturday (6AM - 2PM) or Flexible between 6AM -2PM.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Possession of a license to practice medicine in the State of New York and two (2) years of experience as a licensed physician in the field of assignment. Additionally, the incumbent must have experience in addiction medicine or psychiatry, including using medications for substance use disorders.
Important Note for Medical Director Position:
Medical Directors must hold a board certification in addiction medicine from a certifying entity appropriate to their primary or specialty board certification. Physicians may be hired as probationary medical directors if not so certified but must obtain certification within four (4) years of being hired.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of the State and local laws affecting health services; thorough knowledge of current developments, literature and sources of information with a specialization in addiction medicine; ability to plan and supervise the work of medical personnel in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs and supervises medical practices and procedures for the operation of Suffolk Opioid Treatment Program;
- Organizes and staffs Suffolk County Opioid Treatment Clinics;
- Implements medical policy and maintains standards of performance;
- Supervises the performance of clinical staff assigned to the Suffolk County Opioid Treatment Clinics;
- Provides general clinical supervision and administrative direction for all personnel assigned to the Suffolk County Opioid Treatment Clinics;
- Works with other agencies, both public and private, in promoting the aims of the Suffolk County Opioid Treatment Clinics;
- Shall diagnose and treat patients within the area of competency: including monitoring health needs/referring for complimentary services, prescribing medications, consulting with the clinical team, completing all necessary clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Responsible for assuring all medical, psychiatric, nursing, pharmacy, toxicology, and other services offered at the Opioid Treatment Clinics are conducted in compliance with federal regulations at all times.;
