Job Description:
The Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Program and Hepatology Director for Hospital is designed to assist the Hepatology Division of the Department of Internal Medicine to achieve the mission of excellence in patient care, education, and research.

Leadership

Work collaboratively with the Program and medical staff leaders, Hospital managers, and supervisors, as well as specialists to:

Communicate Intermountain's mission, vision, and values;

Organize and provide services which meet the needs of patients and Hospital medical staff(s); and Develop, communicate, and implement Program and strategic business plans.

Quality Management

Provide clinical leadership in implementing within the Intermountain Hepatology Service, Intermountain's overall quality management program, including initiatives to identify, measure, stabilize, and improve key processes in order to:

Assure and improve the consistency, quality, and safety of all services provided in the Intensive Medicine Service, including Intensivist and non-intensivist personnel and multidisciplinary team members;

Meet accreditation standards (e.g., TJC, NCQA, UNOS); and

Comply with federal and state regulations (e.g., CMS, OSHA, CLIA).

Provide input regarding clinical performance of mid-level providers to Administrative Director in preparation for annual performance reviews.

Hospital Operations

Develop and implement policies and procedures which govern care provided by bedside care givers of the Intermountain Hepatology

Service.

Provide professional training and clinical supervision to clinical employees of the Intensive Medicine Service.

Facilitate teamwork and collaboration between clinicians and administrative personnel who are part of the Intensive Medicine Service; and From time to time, Physician may be asked to participate in recruitment activities for Hospital's Hepatology Division of the Department of Internal Medicine or as otherwise requested by IHCHS.

Education, Training and Community Relations Responsibilities

Participate in such education programs conducted by Hospital or medical staff necessary to assure the Hospital's overall compliance with accreditation or Medicare/Medicaid requirements.

Perform teaching functions within the Hospital, including in-service education as requested by Hospital managers; and

Develop processes that support and encourage positive relationships with community and regional health care providers.

Establish semi-annual education meetings in collaboration with Hospital's Hepatology Division of the

Department of Internal Medicine Medical Directors for community and regional health care providers.

Participate in regional transplant related educational opportunities; and

Assist in establishing regular outreach contacts and clinics as needed to serve liver transplant patients throughout the Intermountain region.

Research Responsibilities

Responsible for all research activities that occur within the Hepatology Division, and which use Department of Medicine and Hospital resources. Physician will coordinate all research activities and assure communication regarding and compliance with policies of the Intermountain Office of Research to assure appropriateness of the research activity and appropriate use of Hospital and Department resources.

Minimum Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. with residency or fellowship training

Board Certification education is verified. *exceptions must be approved by the Hospital Board of Trustees

Graduate of an AAMC accredited United States Medical School or equivalent. Active Medical Licensure, or in the process of obtaining licensure.

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, Project management, Advanced Training Program) Experience working in a complex health system (hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care, etc.) and -

Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$7.25 - $999.99
