The Role
The Medical Director shall serve as a member of the medical team and will facilitate, coordinate, direct and manage all medical provider coverage for SDH system-wide. The Medical Director will further monitor the professional, clinical and administrative aspects of the appropriateness, timeliness and quality of care provided to the patients. This work is carried out in support of the mission and philosophy of Samaritan Daytop Health, Inc.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do
- Facilitate, guide, and direct the medical providers in promoting the philosophy and mission of Samaritan Daytop Health. Inc. to ensure the provision of quality and cost-effective care to the communities we serve.
- Assume responsibility for the supervision of the Quality improvement program and for reporting activities of the program to the BOD.
- Utilize the CQI process to identify opportunities for change, analyze data, systems and processes and develop plans for improvement in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Provide oversight for medical providers compliance to standards of professional practice, current standards of care, organizational policies/procedures, medical/dental staff by-laws and regulatory requirements, as applicable.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to facilitate the design and development of systems and processes that are consistent with current practice standards, regulatory requirements, reimbursement methodologies, technology, and health care trends.
- Assist the Executive Director in defining short and long-term goals and developing strategies and outcome measurements that will improve the provision of services and operational efficiency systemwide.
- Maintain a working knowledge of managed care systems, reimbursement methodologies, cost reduction strategies and industry standards, which effectively guide and direct operational decisions and the provision of quality patient care.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for ensuring that appointees to the medical staff are credentialed and assigned clinical privileges in accordance with the Medical Staff by-laws and the credentialing policy of SDH.
- Make recommendations to the Board of Directors for appointments to the Medical Staff.
Qualifications
Who You Will Be
- A graduate of an accredited medical school and currently registered to practice as a Physician in New York State.
- Board Certified and licensed in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred with at least Five (5) years recent experience in a managerial or leadership role, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
- Understands and is able to articulate the concepts of an interdisciplinary team model with a focus on outcome measurements.
- License/Certification Required:
- NYSED MD/DO license.
- Board Certified, preferably in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Valid DEA registration.
- BLS certification.
- eMEDNY Provider or willingness to enroll as a "Provider" upon hire.
- Active NPI.
