Our story

Originally founded by two emergency room psychiatrists, Dr. Chris Carson and Dr. Robert Williamson, Connections Health Solutions brings 30 years of experience serving individuals in crisis and operates two of the nation's largest and most studied crisis response centers and is currently expanding to more states. Since opening our doors, we have provided care and treatment for hundreds of thousands of individuals in crisis.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

The Medical Director performs administrative functions and serves as a key leader for the facility. Directs care through identification and implementation of treatment approaches and guidelines for the facility. Leads, coordinates, and provides medical/clinical services to specified individuals within the facility.

  • Performs medical review of all clinical practices, including safety protocols.
  • Functions as site representative/clinical leader regarding clinical care and practices for regulatory agencies, facility and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitates direct clinical care for at least 30% of the work week. Acts as a point of clinical contact and supervisory role in-person or by telecommunication at all hours of the day/week (PTO excluded). Serves as an Administrator on Call for the Leadership Team.
  • Provides clinical guidance to clinical services staff for escalated clinical cases. Serves as a point of contact at all hours of the day/week. Performs duties of Medical Services Manager in their absence.
  • Ensures professional conduct and manages conflict resolution of Clinical Services staff. Reviews, participates in, and engages in corrective actions as indicated.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, creating an on-boarding process, and termination of Clinical Services staff.
  • Participate in occasional on-call duties.
  • Provide formal supervision and oversight of mid-level providers (e.g., Nurse Practitioners, Physician's Assistants) as their collaborating physician.
  • Participates in the facility Leadership Team, which is responsible for the development and implementation of processes that support the strategic mission of the company.
  • Serves as the attending psychiatrist to specified individuals. Completes initial psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, individual education, progress toward treatment goals, and discharge planning including medical, psychological, social, behavioral and developmental aspects of the individual's care, treatment, and services.
  • Collaborates with other personnel to ensure that each treatment modality is appropriate for the individual in addition to working with outside psychiatric providers in crisis and inpatient services.
  • Serves on the Medical Executive Committee as well as other committees when clinical expertise is required.

  • Responsible for development and clinical supervision of Physician Assistants (PAs) on staff.
  • Serves as official supervisor for PAs.
  • Participates in peer reviews for clinical services staff.


Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
  • Completion of approved psychiatric residency training programs, in the delivery of mental health treatment of children, adolescents, and/or adults
  • 3 years of post-residency psychiatric care experience
  • Licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine
  • Board Certificated
  • Unrestricted DEA license and X license
  • Addiction-credentialed physician or physician with experience in addiction medicine
  • State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company's exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
  • Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including but not limited to obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials as required for the role

  • Prior administrative experience
  • Knowledge and experience with DBHDS and DMAS regulations

The typical base range for this position in Virginia is $288,000 to $360,000
