Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Job Specialty: Clinical Laboratory Services
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night 4x10 Hr
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 1 year
License: MT(ASCP) or CLS (ASCP)
Certifications: MT(ASCP) or CLS (ASCP)
Must-Have: Bachelor's Degree
Job Description:
- Perform and interpret designated laboratory procedures.
- Conduct serologic, chemical, bacteriologic, immunohematologic (blood bank), and microscopic procedures to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Execute accurate and appropriate testing on laboratory specimens/collections according to established laboratory protocol and procedures and report results in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot instruments, equipment, reagents, patient specimen/product problems using standard laboratory techniques as required.
- Conduct laboratory quality control, report discrepancies, and troubleshoot according to established procedures and protocols.
- Take appropriate actions to ensure quality results/products are provided for use by physicians, nurses, and patients.
- Perform maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed to meet all quality requirements.
- Conduct verification tests on new products, instruments, and procedures, which includes comparisons and statistical analysis as requested.
- Perform quality audit data collection, contribute to technical policy/procedure development, assist in inspections and donor file management under the direction of laboratory management.
- Maintain workflow in the clinical laboratory by ensuring proficiency in testing, maintaining work areas, supply stock, and assisting in inventory management.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new associates.
- Promote mission, vision, and values of the organization and abide by service behavior standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
