Job Description:

- Determine the suitability of specimens and orders by verifying patient demographic information and receipt documentation.
- Organize and prioritize the workload to provide services as needed and requested by medical staff.
- Perform routine and special procedures accurately according to policy and procedure manuals; evaluate results for correctness and recognize abnormal test results.
- Provide age-appropriate care using established technical protocols, appropriate instrumentation, and report results based on normal ranges.
- Respond to emergency situations and STATs promptly, providing the necessary services without delay.
- Assist other employees in troubleshooting specimen problems and errors to meet established turnaround times.
- Communicate any quality control issues or exceptional cases to the appropriate supervisor and/or professional staff, maintaining documentation of all clinical information.
- Recognize and troubleshoot erroneous, inconsistent, and special orders.
- Maintain documentation accuracy by correctly entering data into the record-keeping system, with few omissions or corrections.
