Your Opportunity:
The Community Extension Team (CET) is a team of clinicians (nurses, social workers, psychiatrists) and outreach workers who provide transitional, short-term, intensive mental health outreach services to clients with a psychiatric diagnosis. The clients served by CET are mental health clients who are at a transition point in their mental health care, primarily from hospital to community services. This outreach service provides direct mental health services to clients within their own immediate environment. We provide a service bridge to ongoing mental health services for individuals who are at risk for deterioration during critical treatment transitions. Reporting to the Manager and Clinical Supervisor, the Mental Health Therapist (MHT) is responsible for supporting the transition of patients from inpatient mental health programs to community mental health programs and from CET to the client's endpoint. This position will be focused on providing therapy to clients identied within the team as being able to benet from therapy. This position requires a high level of independent practice. Community Extension Team (CET) has an immediate opening for a MHT. This position will be focused on providing recovery and goal-focused assessment and treatment that is time-effective for individuals who are struggling with moderate to severe addiction and mental health concerns. The client and their treatment team work together in developing a treatment plan with specic goals that will support the client in their journey towards recovery. As a MHT, you will perform advanced practice activities within our clinic. This involves, but is not limited to, the following: completing comprehensive assessments; providing individual counselling; facilitating psycho-educational, skill, and process groups; and completing various case management activities.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years providing individual and/or family counselling with adults in an outpatient, addiction and/or mental health clinic setting (must be within the last 5 years). Familiarity with the DSM V system of mental health disorder classication. Intermediate knowledge and skills in the following counselling modalities: CBT, DBT (skills), trauma specific therapy modalities. Experience within the last year providing psycho-educational, skill, and process groups. Evidence of trauma-informed practice within your counselling practice (beyond trauma-specic interventions). Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Connect Care and Microsoft products: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to manage the demands of a busy clinic/team through demonstrated caseload management skills, excellent organizational skills, and an ability to work independently. Familiarity with the Recovery Framework. NVCI training. BLS-HCP. Effective demonstration in completing mental health assessments; providing therapy and case management; attending and contributing to consultations with psychiatry; coordinating client care; completing required paperwork and team processes; and participating in weekly consult meetings. Provides client and family-centered care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
