Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced , hands-on manufacturing expert to take on the responsibility of a Manufacturing and Engineering Manager.
This role requires strong leadership abilities, mechanical knowledge, and expertise in Lean manufacturing principles to optimize plant performance and productivity.
Duties
Manufacturing and Engineering Manager is responsible for developing operating plans, strategy, and overall vision for all aspects of Manufacturing and Engineering function, concerning the automation and maintenance of the manufacturing process at Stone Straw.
This role involves a high degree of interaction with Operations, Maintenance, Quality Control, Senior Management and outside Vendors.

Manufacturing and Engineering Manager is responsible for developing operating plans, strategy, and overall vision for all aspects of Manufacturing and Engineering function, concerning the automation and maintenance of the manufacturing process at Stone Straw.
This role involves a high degree of interaction with Operations, Maintenance, Quality Control, Senior Management and outside Vendors.
Details
- Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects. To provide leadership toward automation and maintenance to achieve increasing productivity, and "world Class" operating standards.
- Confer with management, production, maintenance, and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
- Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Direct, review, and approve production equipment design, improvements and/or changes. Project management and oversight of manufacturing improvement projects for the control of raw goods, and elimination of waste.
- Develop employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
- Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the fabrication and installation of process/production equipment, fixtures, and facilities.
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the manufacture, engineering, quality, and security requirements relevant to the operations and work performed by Stone.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the operations, maintenance, and purchase of materials or services.
- Prepare specifications and/or proposals for vendor quotation or cost estimates. Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
- Establish and document scientific and technical goals for developing new products materials, processes, or technological advancements.
- Establish and document all maintenance and/or preventative maintenance procedures, to continuously improve process control, quality control, and machine reliability.
- Monitoring and communication of production efficiencies, maintenance key performance indices, safety records and performance.
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures, meeting both internal and government requirements regarding the building, grounds, and machinery.
- Maintain building security and fire protection to ensure assets are well protected.
- Monitoring, documentation, and communication of projects for all departments and teams.
- Confer with and report to officials and the public to provide information and solicit support for projects.
- Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Key member of the IFS Pacsecure and Crisis Management team, participating in policy and customer audits.
- Support all manufacturing requirements daily.
- Perform other duties and special projects as requested
Experience

- Solid understand of workplace Health & Safety.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in manufacturing or processing.
- Proven hands-on experience working with plastics, profile extrusion, blown film, cast or injection mould manufacturing.
- Solid leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance improvements.
- Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
- Thorough knowledge of operations with emphasis on packaging and sanitation.
- Experience successfully leading, coaching, motivating and developing a team in a "hands-on" environment.
- Strong relationship and team-building skills. Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, confidentially, and professionally.
- Planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under stress and manage time and resources effectively.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to delegate.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others.
