The Beacon Ambulance Transport and Clinical Operations Manager is a key leadership role focusing on integrating clinical expertise with ambulance transport services to ensure superior patient care and safety standards. This position enhances clinical oversight within transport operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Mobile Patient Care and Transport, the manager oversees Shift Leaders, Clinical Staff, and administrative staff while maintaining 24/7 accountability. This role involves collaboration with leadership on all operational components to ensure the alignment of transport services with the organization's clinical and strategic goals.

Transport and Clinical Operation responsibilities:
  • Ensures the integration of clinical standards within all aspects of ambulance transport services, focusing on patient safety and care quality.
  • Supervises EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, and other relevant staff, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and organizational policies.
  • Collaborates with organizational leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives for the Transport and Clinical divisions, aiming to exceed performance metrics while upholding clinical excellence.
  • Partners closely with the Medical Director, Clinical Educator, and other healthcare professionals to refine training programs, establish clinical protocols, and implement quality assurance measures.
  • Facilitates clinical case reviews and encourages a culture of continuous improvement, education, and patient-centric care.
  • Stays abreast of the latest clinical practices, regulatory requirements, and advancements in emergency medical transport services.
  • Acts as a clinical representative in various forums, promoting the division's commitment to clinical excellence and patient care. Coordinates with healthcare facilities and providers to ensure effective communication and seamless patient transitions.

Effectively performs various management responsibilities by:
  • Assists with selecting, orienting/training, and supervising staff; evaluating performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensuring the ongoing development of staff and the existence of a collaborative, positive work environment.
  • Reviewing the department's performance in relation to established goals; implementing changes to effect continual improvement in the services provided.
  • Ensuring effective working relationship by staff with all members of the organization.

Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
  • Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in nursing, Paramedic License, or related health field required; Master's Degree in nursing, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in emergency transport or a related field, with extensive clinical experience, preferably in emergency or critical care nursing. Essential certifications: AHA BLS - HCP, ACLS, PALS, NRP; advanced clinical certifications such as CEN, CCRN, CFRN, or FPC are highly desirable.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Proven leadership abilities in clinical environments, with excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical practices, healthcare regulations, and the specifics of emergency medical transport.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based but may require travel between service bases and direct clinical engagement as necessary.

Physical Demands
  • Demands physical ability and stamina for effective job performance, including the capacity to respond to urgent medical situations.
