The Manager of Linux Engineering Support will report to Director of Classified IT. This position will be primarily responsible for the leading the Linux Engineering Support Team, which supports the Linux Engineering Systems Infrastructure for the Space and Mission Systems Sector of BAE Systems Inc. Systems supported consist of Manufacturing Systems Infrastructure, Linux engineering workstations, Spacecraft Test Consoles, and High-Performance Compute Clusters that span across the Sector's Strategic business units. The team is primarily responsible for the Linux Systems Infrastructure in the Classified networks; however, the team also supports Linux infrastructure on sector specific Unclassified networks. In this role, the employee will be part of the Classified ITS Infrastructure Leadership Team and will collaborate with internal customers, stakeholders, as well as within ITS to lead the delivery of reliable and robust Linux infrastructure solutions in alignment with program objectives, requirements and timelines. This role requires a focus on program execution, customer service, ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment, exceptional communication, ability to build solid relationships with internal customers, and on-time delivery on both operational and project objectives. This role will be responsible for delivering infrastructure solutions and supporting the software engineering teams to promote program execution.

What You'll Do:
- Provide leadership, technical guidance/direction, and overall management of assigned teams.
- Responsible for ensuring those teams follow stated strategy and objectives to support program execution and goals.
- Provide exceptional customer service, clear communication and consistently follow-up on issues and projects as required.
- Establish, define, and communicate effective roles and responsibilities and associated performance expectations for assigned teams.
- Prioritize and communicate ongoing activities and projects, goals and objectives.
- Develop and document the process and procedures for consistent and effective infrastructure management, methodologies and standards. Responsible for holding teams accountable to stated process and procedures.
- Have a continuous improvement mindset.
- Use critical thinking skills that result in effective decision making and priority setting.
- Position staff for success, provide coaching and career development.
- Interface with Security and Mission Assurance, other ITS teams and management to ensure compliance with strategies, standards, and security requirements.
- Establish constructive interfaces with other IT teams to support broader mission and project success.
- Serve as focal point and escalation manager for incidents related to assigned teams and areas of responsibility.
- Participate as a management team member to champion Operational Excellence goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures and ensure they consistent and repeatable.
- Maintain relationships with providers/vendors to maximum service.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Required Skills and Education
- BS/BA in related field plus 8 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret security clearance is required with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Polygraph.
- Exceptional customer service, accountability, professionalism and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills to set direction, create goals in alignment with business requirements and timelines, prioritize operational and project tasks, and enforce accountability.
- Understanding of security requirements for a government contractor, CMMC, NIST 800-171, etc.
- Solid foundation in establishing and managing to an Operational Excellence level of rigor and discipline.
- Excellent vendor management skills. Interface with external vendors accordingly to ensure documented expectations are met and address all issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Skills and Education
- Active TS/SCI security clearance is preferred.
- Technical skills in the areas of Linux/Unix OS, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Oracle Linux, and other Linux distributions.
- Thorough understanding and previous experience supporting Manufacturing Systems Infrastructure running on Linux OS.
- Thorough understanding and previous work experience with cloud and container solutions.
- Thorough understanding and previous work experience with specialized systems for engineering use cases, including High Performance Compute clusters, Spacecraft Test Consoles and Flight Simulation systems.
- Solid technical skills in the areas network infrastructure.
