BAE Systems is searching for a Quality Manager to lead the Sensors and Electronics Solutions quality team. The Quality Manager will work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering and other functions in support of delivering high quality products to our Customer. They will also be responsible for implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of the key quality elements including:
  • Employee Training and Development on Inspection Processes
  • Support Manufacturing in support of Customer needs
  • Support Quality Management System compliance to AS9100
  • Support Management Reviews
  • Prepare for and perform internal audit and or assessments
  • Support External Audits DCMA and Customer Audits from pre-audit to out brief
  • Lead/Support Corrective Action responses
  • Support First Article Inspections
  • Perform Trend analysis to lead continuous improvements
  • Address customer quality issues and complaints
I. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Manage and administer the Business Area quality program. Staff and maintain the organization to assure the continuous improvement of personnel, processes, products, systems and customer relations. Maintain a program that meets company and contractual quality requirements.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job. Incumbent(s) perform one or more of the following duties.)
  • Analyze potential future needs and develop time-phased plans to acquire personnel, technology and equipment to support anticipated requirements
  • Ability to support a continuous improvement culture underpinned by appropriate management reporting systems and escalation processes
  • Execute action plans and initiate activity to reflect implementation of policy, specifications and standards
  • Analyze contractual quality assurance requirements and their relationships to company practices and procedures. Define company actions to be taken and ensure implementation through the appropriate company functional organizations
  • Responsible for hiring, counseling, training, developing and evaluating direct reports
  • Develop, implement, expand, maintain and improve the AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and report on performance and key quality metrics that support the program's goals/objectives
  • Direct activities to identify, define, and resolve quality problems
  • Manage reviews of customer quality requirements for proposals, quotes, contracts, and contract modifications
  • Collaborate with customer quality to align with organizational goals and objectives
  • Define quality actions to be taken and ensure implementation through the appropriate functional organizations
  • Manage the Corrective Action program and use corrective actions to drive improvement and change
  • Manage the Internal Audit program and serve as a liaison with third party auditors
  • Manage the Customer Satisfaction Survey process and promote improvements
  • Lead Quality Reviews and Reporting, including nonconformance management to senior management
  • Partner with Product Teams and Functions to develop processes and procedures
  • Promote a culture of quality awareness and serve as the Change Agent for affecting a cultural shift in the way we implement quality
III. SUPERVISION:
  • Accountable for the Work of Others (up to 10 direct reports)
  • Supervises quality assurance professionals (first level supervisor).
  • Performs independently and on own initiative with minimum supervision.
IV. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS & ENVIRONMENT:
  • Contact with various departments within the company -
  • Collaborate with external customer and supplier quality teams and to align with organizational goals and objectives; occasionally travel to customer locations may be required
  • Exerts normal physical energy.
  • Working Conditions - Normal office environment. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends.


Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience or greater
  • Must have quality assurance related management and direct supervisory experience in a design and manufacturing environment
  • Experience briefing and interacting with senior management and government customers
  • ISO 9000:2000/AS9100, DOD, and MIL-STD experience is required
  • Experience with inspection techniques, quality and Inspection methods, and use of various inspection equipment
  • ISO 9000 training and experience
  • AS9100 training and experience
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience
  • Must be an effective and credible communicator with good interpersonal skills

Min Salary $92,520 - $157,320
