Job Summary: The Assistant Principal serves as a member of the 6-8th secondary administrative team and assists with the daily operation of the schools, specifically in the areas of attendance, behavioral, and disciplinary prevention and intervention services with an emphasis on Restorative Practices, District Designated Practices and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The incumbent needs to embrace an inclusive philosophy providing a safe and orderly environment for both student and adult learning.
*Salary: $84,336 - $118,070, All Placements are on the Administrative Salary Schedule, salary schedule is commensurate with education and experiance.
Education, Experience and Certifications : Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in education or related field. Master's degree in education administration preferred. Familiar with working with at risk populations and secondary students. Works well with team members within collaborative processes.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work closely with teachers, advisors, and the school counselor, providing programming and practices that embrace and incorporate the guiding principles of a positive behavior system, while maintaining transparent data to ensure the practices are being followed with fidelity.
- Collaborates with administrators and leadership teams to fulfill traditional discipline processes and utilize alternatives to traditional school discipline and consequences.
- Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to student behavior and attendance.
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and participates in disciplinary hearings when applicable.
- Address bus behavior referrals and maintains appropriate documentation
- Communicate with students, parents, and staff in a timely manner regarding student behavior and attendance in accordance with student/staff handbook
- Maintain a commitment to learning about best practices in student management and attendance.
- Attends/leads special meetings to engage in conversations involving student behavior and attendance.
- Participates in professional growth to improve skills related to the job assignment.
- Meet with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
- Perform supervision of students during unstructured times such as before and after school, during passing times and during lunch periods.
- Make recommendations concerning the revision and updating of student code of conduct, rules, regulations, and handbooks.
- Serve as emergency substitute teacher when need arises.
- Perform such record-keeping functions as the Principal may direct, including entry of behavior events in the student information system, and producing and sending documentation related to behavior events to families as required by policy or statute.
- Works directly with academically and socially challenged students, in partnership with building teachers, administrators, counselors and parents.
- Assist students in adapting and overcoming problems that emerge due to behavioral difficulties while fostering and helping students develop suitable academic skills and social abilities.
- Encourages and motivates students to develop independence, self-confidence, and to achieve their full potential.
- Facilitate an effective process to establish and maintain behavior, attendance and other student plans when established.
- Maintains records and makes such reports as required and directed by the administrator.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs and serves on staff committees as required.
- Attend district meetings when deemed necessary by the Principal.
- Collects, analyzes and maintains student data and information confidentially.
- Documents behavioral and attendance records in the district assigned data systems in a timely manner while producing weekly reports to administrators and staff.

- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.

- Ensure layers are intervention are in place to support students in alternative settings:
- Student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, other teachers, and administration.
- Partnerships with appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating student progress and/or making referrals.
- It serves as an effective classroom program and addresses the needs of individual students.
- All safety protocols are followed: Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to education code and school policies.
- Personal responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
- Serve as a co Athletic and Activities Director for CMS.
