Salary Range: $150,000 - $165,000. Placement in the range is commensurate with experience.

We are seeking a full-time Middle School Assistant Director of Academic Support and Student Services who will participate as a member of the Middle School administrative team and work closely with our students in grades 4 through 8, their families, and our faculty and staff. The Middle School Assistant Director for Academic Support and Student Services will collaborate with faculty to promote strategic, integrated, and differentiated instruction in support of the range of learners in Grades 4-8. They will oversee the progress of all students in need of learning support while honoring the whole child through an asset-based approach. The Assistant Director for Academic Support and Student Services must be able to lead and collaborate effectively. They will play a key role in the Middle School Administrative team and report to the Middle School Director.

Responsibilities:
The duties of the Assistant Director for Academic Support and Student Services include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing student learning support
- Coordinating student support, both within Dalton and in collaboration with families and external service providers
- Assisting in the development of support plans for students within the Middle School and liaising among all team members
- Supervising Math and Humanities Learning Support Specialists in collaboration with the Middle School Director and the Middle School Assistant Director, Dean of Faculty and Curriculum
- Reviewing student neuropsych evaluations and other testing in collaboration with the MS Psychologist, summarizing and providing information to teachers and administrators, and overseeing the creation of Student Learning Plans
- Observing and assessing student performance and maintaining documentation on all observations and assessments
- Overseeing standardized testing, including building schedules, training faculty, and communicating results to families
- Educating teachers, administrators, and parents about the best interventions for students of varying learning styles
- Keeping abreast of changes and advancements within the field of education, differentiation of instruction, and instructional best practices to foster, design, and initiate innovative systems and structures for supporting students' learning needs
- Analyzing and assessing how our teaching and learning practices best support all learners in the Middle School and where we can continue to grow.
- Maintaining documentation of student progress.
- Working in collaboration with the Middle School Assistant Director, Dean of Faculty and Curriculum to guide teachers in developing differentiated instruction
- Serving as Registrar for the Middle School, including managing student records, running course registration, in collaboration with the Middle School Assistant Director, Dean of Faculty and Curriculum, and collaborating with the MS Scheduler on the creation and distribution of faculty and student schedules
- Collaborating with the MS Team and the MS Scheduler in creating a schedule that is reflective of curricular priorities and meets the developmental needs of Middle School students
- Working in close collaboration with the Dean of Students and Middle School Psychologist, including attending and co-facilitating student support meetings
- Work directly with students to conduct assessments and support learning needs.
- Contributing to the running of the Middle School including, but not limited to supporting supervision of students, and attending, planning, and organizing Middle School events.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or a related field
- Experience working with Middle School students with learning differences
- Administrative experience preferred
- Places value in using an asset-based, whole child approach to supporting students
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Effective interpersonal skills and proven success working collaboratively
- Is a reflective practitioner who possesses a willingness to grow professionally
- Discretion and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Fluency with technology and comfort with new technology
- Experience in progressive education
- Ability to manage, take initiative on, prioritize, and follow through on multiple projects
