Middle School Mathematics Teacher
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Provides effective mathematics instruction to middle school students. Assists students in need of help, and designs lessons, assessments, and evaluations. Actively participates in committee work (departmental, curriculum, etc.), staff meetings, and conferences with students, parents, colleagues, administration and parents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to rules, regulations and by-laws of the Board of Education;
Complies promptly with all administrative directives issued by the superintendent of schools or any administrative subordinate within the scope of his/her authority;
Maintains a strong working knowledge and application of the philosophy, courses of study, techniques and objectives applicable to the area of specialization and assignment;
Directs and evaluates the learning experiences of the student;
Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to good instruction;
Ensures parents are accurately informed of student growth and development;
Participates in professional learning activities, including faculty committee and system-wide committee assignments;
Participates in assignments and activities to promote better school-community relations (parent conferences, activities, etc.);
Performs other specific duties as assigned by the building administrator, such as lunchroom, homeroom, outside areas, halls, clerical, club and social activities;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold proper Connecticut mathematics teaching certification. Academic preparation with emphasis on middle school education; knowledge of best practices across the curriculum and ability to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners. Must be a flexible collaborator with an understanding of children's developmental stages.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full time teaching position to start at the beginning of the 2025-2026. Salary and benefits in accordance with negotiated agreement between the Berlin Board of Education and the Berlin Education Association, $53,201.00 BA, Step 1 - $111,279.00 Ph.D., Max.
