There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $175 million, with a state funding of $9,608 per pupil.

The principal holds the key leadership position and assumes overall responsibility as the creator of culture and instructional leader in the school. An effective principal develops a school culture that is welcoming, student-centered and collaborative. The principal establishes the priorities and direction of the whole-child educational program through careful short-term and visionary long-term strategic planning. She/he serves as the lead learner in the school and oversees the implementation and analysis of the instructional program and student academic achievement. An effective principal inspires staff, connects with students, and encourages parent participation in the educational journey of their children.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Superintendent in exercising the prerogative to determine appropriate qualifications.
* Minimum of a master's degree with graduate study in any of the following: school administration or educational leadership
* Hold a current school administrator's certificate or within 6 months of hire date, enroll in an approved preparation program leading to certification as a school administrator within three years
* A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students
* Visionary and creative leadership that promotes team and community building
* Successful administrative experience or other leadership roles required
* Evidence of ability to be approachable, knowledgeable and collaborative
* Successful experience in interviewing, selecting, supervising and evaluating school personnel
