$145,679.70 - $161,487.49

Position Summary: As Principal, this position serves as Elma School District educational leader of the Middle School, responsible for development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of a comprehensive program of educational and student serves. Administers the program in accordance with ESD board policies, statutory requirements, administrative rules and regulations, and consistent with the collective bargaining agreements. Serves as an advocate for the staff, school, and school community as appropriate.

Elma School District is located between Olympia and Aberdeen; Elma is the gateway to Grays Harbor. We are positioned for many outdoor recreation activities, and close to 3,200 people call Elma home. The community supports the public school system with sustainable funding of M&O levies. Additionally, the community enthusiastically sponsors student activities with financial backing or a helping hand.

Monitoring, assisting, and evaluating effective instruction and assessment practices:
- Knowledgeable about and deeply involved in the design and implementation of the instructional program.
- Prioritizes effective teaching by visiting classrooms regularly and working with teachers on instructional issues.
- Develops a working knowledge and ability to lead district initiatives.
- Participates in professional development regarding district initiatives.
- Monitors instruction and assessment practices are ensuring alignment with the School Improvement Plan.
- Reliably and validly evaluates staff in effective instruction, assessment practices, and student growth plans using valid, reliable sources of evidence.
- Working for school safety:
- Effectively engages the entire community toward developing a safe school environment.
- Works to provide physical, intellectual, and emotional safety in the school environment for effective teaching and learning.
- Maintains implementation of the UW CEL 5D+ Framework to measure and communicate instructional growth.
Use of Data:
- Provides leadership to teachers in utilizing multiple assessment tools and strategies to support reaching performance standards by every student.
- Develops and implements District's performance measurement systems to provide indicators that measure school success in meeting student growth expectations.
- Develops action plans for closing achievement gaps in student performance
Student Support Services: Participates in a comprehensive support system using:
- Diagnostics and individual learning plans
- Interventions for individual and group gaps
- Counseling and discipline.
- Family involvement and outreach
- Co-curricular and extra-curricular programs.
- Special education services
Educational Certification/Experience:
- Master's Degree with a major in educational administration or appropriate related field: valid Washington State Principal Certification.
- Experience as a school administrator, minimum five, and years of demonstrated successful secondary classroom teaching experience.
Personal and Professional Qualifications:
- Managerial skill in planning, organizing, delegating, and listening
- Passion for knowledge. Passion for teaching. Passion for kids.
- A professional educator with instructional solid leadership skills providing support and mentoring to staff.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate school personnel, direct, and evaluate work of all assigned staff.
- An individual with unquestionable integrity, strong moral and ethical character, and an enthusiastic leadership style.
- Ability to create a safe, orderly, positive school climate for students and staff
- Demonstrate successful experience in shared decision making, program development, staff supervision and evaluation
- Ability to evaluate teachers using the CEL-5D+ Framework for Teaching
