Job Description
Gradient, a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated and resourceful Mid-Level Database Specialist to apply relevant skills in database design and management, programming, and/or data visualization to a diverse range of environmental and product stewardship project settings. You will have the opportunity to join our growing practice in one of our office locations: downtown Boston, MA or Charlottesville, VA.

Gradient is an environmental and health risk sciences consulting firm specializing in environmental sciences, human and ecological risk sciences, product stewardship, and life sciences. Gradient's scientists have a variety of backgrounds in chemistry, engineering, toxicology, epidemiology, ecotoxicology, medical device and pharmaceuticals, exposure sciences, industrial hygiene, GIS, product safety and liability, and sustainability.

Experience and Skills
  • Review, standardize, and compile data.


  • Prepare data summaries and visualizations.


  • Build and maintain environmental and product stewardship databases and/or web applications.


  • Review work of early career staff.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, natural sciences, or related field. (required)


  • Advanced degree in engineering, natural sciences, or related field. (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)


  • Exceptional written and oral communication. (required)


  • Prior experience with environmental data and relational database systems (EQuIS, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS Access). (preferred)


  • Programming and/or coding experience (e.g., Python with Numpy, Scipy; Django, or Pandas; Matplotlib; R; JavaScript; Power BI). (preferred)
