Position Description

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Mill Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing training programs for employees to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently. This role involves conducting training sessions, evaluating training effectiveness, and continuously improving training programs to meet the evolving needs of the mill. The Mill Trainer plays a crucial role in maintaining a skilled workforce and supporting operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the onboarding process by providing training for new employees and assisting with their integration into the mill operations.
  • Create/maintain training materials, including manuals, presentations, videos, and hands-on exercises.
  • Assess employees' knowledge and skills through tests, observations, and practical evaluations.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to employees to help them improve their performance and skills.
  • Utilize training software and learning management systems (LMS) to organize and deliver training programs.
  • Ensure all training programs comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, employee progress, and certification statuses.
  • Other relevant duties, projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Post-Secondary Education is preferred, especially a concentration in Education, Training and Development or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in training and development, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pulp mill operations, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in training software and learning management systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to assess training needs and develop effective training solutions.
  • Certification in training and development (e.g., Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, CPLP) is considered an asset.

Salary

The salary for this position is $80,000.00 - 121,000.00. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
