Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you'll engage in virtual collaboration as well as attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix or at one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working caf, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration. The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $90,000-$124,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. What You Will Do
- Developsmining plans based on all available geological information to support short and/or long-range planning and production goals.
- Monitor mining methods and equipment, with a view to improving performance.
- Assist in developing and managing mine ventilation.
- Assist in identifying courses of action to improve safety, operational efficiencies, control production costs and protect the environment.
- Participate in Engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements.
- Ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Recommend courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve safety, operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates.
- Work with Geologists in exploration and assists in the Engineering phase of developments and operational activities.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR
- Master's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mining Engineering
- Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
- Skilled in managing Engineering projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Knowledge of one-plus (1+) Underground Mining method (i.e. competent to explain to others the requirements of the mining method familiar to the incumbent and how it differs generally from other mining methods)
