Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. We are also advancing permitting on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility - stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada.
More recently, we've entered into an agreement with Newmont Corporation to acquire the Musselwhite Mine, located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan. This project has great potential in a tier-one mining jurisdiction, and with more than 25 years of proven track record. This fly-in, fly-out operation will position Orla to double its annual gold production and provide us with excellent future opportunities. We expect this transaction to close in Q1 2025.
As part of our acquisition of the Musselwhite Mine, we are recruiting for Mining Application Specialist. This is a hybrid (remote and on-site) work model role and will be responsible for providing production applications support for exploration, mining, and processing technology and systems. This role will report to the Site Technology Superintendent and will be key to the success of the Technology department.

Responsibilities include:
- Plan, coordinate production support, maintenance, updates, and patching of systems defined in the scope of this role.
- Work closely with site technology team members collaborating and leading efforts to solve technical problems in the field.
- Provide a disciplined approach to change management ensuring testing procedures have been carried out prior to production rollout of change.
- Review existing systems and identify areas for improvement in the areas of scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Establish and maintain technology vendor and partner relationships.
- Investigate, review, and recommend change to applications where appropriate and collaborate with stakeholders to roll-out approved enhancements.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Operations Technology to ensure changes and recommendations made are in alignment with solution road maps.
- Collaborate and participate with industrial and academic leaders both inside and outside the mining industry to discover, implement and utilize value-added, methods and/or technologies.
- Responsible for the maintenance of system monitoring tools and responding to issues identified.
- Maintain the integrity of data interfaces (API's) and logic to optimize dataflow.
- Migrating applications or databases across different platforms and cloud or on-premise systems where required.
- Works closely with the Data & Analytics team to provide reporting solutions for the site operations teams.
- Manage and oversee the design of the strategic integrated roadmap for core technology Infrastructure technologies including cloud, virtual environment, networks, telecom, data centers, and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported.
- Assists in developing associated cost budgets and monitors and develops methods to meet the budgets as well as assists in the preparation and submission of requests for quotes and capital submissions for all equipment required for providing communication services.
- Leads the OT teams and collaborates with maintenance to provide guidance and best practices.

Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred in Information Technology field, Computer Science, or equivalent related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in server infrastructure services, database, or technical support roles.
- 5+ years of experience performing a site-based technology application support role, working on project management or in the mining industry.
- 2+ years leadership, management, and supervisory experience.
- Must have exposure to general business functions and business process redesign for operating efficiency gains and cost reduction.
- Experience working with vendors, dealers, consultants, and other contracted services.
- Expertise with Cisco, VMWare, Azure, Power Bi, SQL.
- Knowledge and understanding of Operational Technology and Mining Technology Systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, previous leadership, management and supervisory experience, and the ability to achieve results through others.
- Self-driven individual focused on service with strong skills for issue resolution
- Adept at managing teams of employees and vendors in a matrix environment and from multiple cultures.
- Ability to identify problems, make decisions, create solutions, and take action.
- Highly self-motivated and directed with an attention to detail and a strong customer service orientation.
- Influences business through improved understanding of technology issues, balances competing priorities within business groups and across IT functional groups.
- Broad knowledge of diverse technology toolset and use of problem resolution forums.
Working Conditions
- The schedule is 14x14, working 12-hour days.
