Summary

The Department of Pathology at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is seeking an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D. academic molecular pathologist as a full-time faculty to join the Division of Genomic Medicine. The faculty member will join an experienced team and an expanding molecular genetics and clinical genomics program at TCH and will hold an appointment as Professor (tenured) in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Clinical service responsibilities include molecular and genomic pathology interpretation and sign-out of oncology and constitutional genetics in a state-of-the-art multiplatform diagnostic service, including whole exome and transcriptome sequencing, next-generation sequencing DNA and RNA panels, copy number profiling and targeted molecular testing. Teaching responsibilities include participation in the ACGME-certified Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship and Pathology Residency programs at BCM.

The successful candidate must be board-certified in Molecular Genetic Pathology or Clinical Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. This faculty member will participate in multidisciplinary TCH clinical programs working in close collaboration with colleagues in hematology/oncology, medical genetics, cytogenetics, and pathology at TCH and BCM. Experience in next-generation sequencing and clinical informatics is highly desirable as is expertise in constitutional genetic testing. Joint appointments in other basic science or clinical departments are available for individuals with broader academic interests.

Clinical and translational research responsibilities include support of Global Pathology as part of Texas Children's Global or Baylor College of Medicine Global. In this role, the faculty member will be responsible for representing TCH pathology in global pathology capacity building and infrastructure projects. The faculty member will collaborate with colleagues in all departments at TCH that have a global outreach presence, offering consultation, training, or program management related to pathology needs.
