Job Purpose:
GSK Canada is seeking a Manager, Medical Science Liaisons (Specialty Care) for the Hepatology. This role will be responsible for leading a team of MSLs, enhancing MSL capabilities, ensuring appropriate governance and competencies while effectively meeting customer and business needs.
Detailed Responsibilities:
The MSL Manager will lead and inspire a team of MSLs:
Serve as a medical leader to manage, coach, and develop the Specialty Care MSL team.
Develop and deliver medical affairs executional plans in collaboration with local, regional, and global teams.
Drive team performance of MSLs using the Medical Affairs Dashboard and individual performance plans.
Collaborate with other MSL managers, MSL teams, and internal stakeholders to find strategic opportunities to support the business, health care professionals, and patients.
Identify, address and support MSL training and development needs and ensure consistency in MSL ways of work with the medical leadership team.
Provide expert medical and ethical guidance to ensure evidence-based use of GSK medicines and compliance with Canadian policies and regulations.
Influence market access and engaging Healthcare Professionals with strategic input into health technology assessments.
Address data gaps and removing barriers to optimal medicine use.
Provide strategic medical input clinical research activities, and global medical affairs teams.
Implementing an effective control framework for Medical Affairs governance and compliance.
Manage compliance issues and raising them to governance boards.
Maintain current knowledge in diseases and relevant therapies in the assigned therapeutic area.
Qualifications:
Scientific/medical background and relevant degrees with at least 3-5 years Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry experience required.
Mastery of customer engagement - proven healthcare professional-related experience with demonstrated ability to manage relationships with external experts.
Previous experience managing and developing field-based teams within a matrixed organization is desirable.
Proven track record of collaborating with commercial and medical colleagues to drive medical performance and strategy.
Experience in navigating ambiguity and multiple stakeholders within large cross-functional teams.
Exceptional communication skills using various mediums, as well as strength in negotiation and influencing skills.
Strong business and financial acumen with focused strategic thinking skills at the therapeutic level.
Must possess a good understanding of the Canadian healthcare marketplace.
Knowledge of regulations governing information provision to customers within the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience within the Hepatology/Specialty care therapeutic area is desirable.
Able to travel a significant portion of time (>60% field-based role)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingualism is an asset.
