Job Title: Social Worker
Job Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days 8hr, 7a-3:30p, 1 weekend per month, every other holiday
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 2+ years post-Master of Social Work (MSW) in Medical Social Work, Case Management, Brief Treatment, ICU, Critical Care
License: Licensed at the Master's Level with a degree in Social Work
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must-Have: Clinical social work techniques and theory expertise, particularly in high-risk patient consultations
Job Description:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and make psychosocial diagnoses.
- Plan and implement effective treatments for patients.
- Evaluate, educate, supervise, coach, and mentor patients and their family members.
- Utilize clinical social work techniques and theory for patient consultations in the Medical ICU.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with a wide range of social, governmental, and legal agencies, as well as with courts, schools, clinics, other hospitals, and physicians.
- Address and ameliorate emotional and social problems impacting patients and their families.
- Handle a caseload of 15-20 patient consults per day in an inpatient critical care setting with 30-40 beds.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for grief and bereavement.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in all interactions.
- Facilitate communication within a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Preferred experience in acute care, housing experience, substance use disorder treatment, and cultural responsiveness.
