What are the primary responsibilities in the Multi-Discipline Engineer position?
- Responsible for employing a broad range of skills for research, design, development, and manufacturing of integrated hardware/software systems, potentially including digital signal processing, software, firmware, electronics, field testing of electronic systems, RF and antenna design, and fully integrated systems.
- Participates in all phases of the product development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test.
- Applies engineering, software, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application.
- Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.
- Develops test procedures, embedded software/firmware, and related documentation.
- Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches.
- Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
- Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
What required background will make you successful?
- BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related field
- Experience with some combination of C, C++, Assembly, VHDL and Verilog
- Experience with microprocessor, microcontroller, SoC, and/or FPGA system design
- Knowledge of hardware and software design principles including industry best practices and design trends
- Ability to communicate hardware and software design, complexity analysis, and performance metrics in written and oral reports
- Ability to quickly grasp and come up-to-speed with complex code bases/designs
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
Preferred skills:
- 2+ years of experience with some combination of C, C++, Assembly, VHDL and Verilog
- Experience with embedded Linux
- Familiarity with additional high-level languages (Python, Shell Scripting, etc.)
- Experience with Git or other revision control systems
- Experience with DSP or communication theory
- Experience with PCB layout and schematic capture
- Experience with 3D printing from design to implementation
- Experience with general machining applications
- Experience with field testing of integrated systems
