Pay: $115,000-$155,000/yr

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Franchise Development Manager to join our team. This position is expected to work out of the GreenWaste Corporate office in San Jose CA and job-related travel is required in our service area.

Position Summary:

GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Franchise Development Manager to provide support to the Strategic Growth of the organization. This role focuses on building relationships with local governments, understanding municipal waste, recycling, composting and sustainability needs, securing and maintain franchise agreements that provide sustainable and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of municipal operations, contract negotiations, and a passion for environmental responsibility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Municipal Partnership Development:
  • Identify and target municipalities and public agencies for potential franchise opportunities in the waste recycling and composting sector.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including municipal officials, government agencies, and community leaders.
  • Represent the company at public meetings, council sessions, and community events.

Franchise Proposal and Negotiation:
  • Assist in the development of customized proposals and presentations addressing the specific needs and goals of municipalities.
  • Lead contract negotiations to secure long-term franchise agreements, ensuring alignment with company objectives and municipal requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive pricing, service options, and operational strategies.

Market Analysis and Strategy:
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities in municipal waste management.
  • Analyze competitor activities and municipal procurement processes to develop effective sales strategies.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on market conditions and areas for growth.

Collaboration and Implementation:
  • Work closely with operational, legal, and compliance teams to ensure smooth implementation of franchise agreements.
  • Monitor and evaluate service performance to meet or exceed municipal expectations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for municipal partners, addressing concerns and fostering strong relationships.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proven experience in municipal sales, business development, or public sector engagement, preferably in the waste recycling and composting industry.
  • Familiarity with municipal procurement processes, RFPs, and contract negotiation.
  • Knowledge of waste recycling and composting operations, sustainability practices, and industry regulations is a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing long-term agreements.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex situations and provide innovative solutions.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other business tools.
  • Experience with GIS, sustainability reporting, or environmental software is a plus.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, environmental science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for client visits and events.


Language Skill:

  • Proficiency in English and/or Spanish


Physical Demands:

Work Environment:

Combination of office-based and fieldwork, including site visits, trade shows, and community outreach events. Flexible hours, including occasional weekends for events, council meetings, or client meetings.
