Phillips Academy seeks a full-time, continuing Music Technology Director to begin in September of 2024. As the Music Department prepares to move into the state-of-the-art Falls Music Center, the candidate will serve as coordinator of the recording studio and technology labs and will work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty as the de-facto "Technical Director" of the building.
General responsibilities include maintaining and safeguarding all technical assets of the Falls Music Center; livestreaming and recording concerts and other events; and assisting students, faculty, and ensembles with recordings for portfolios and collaborative projects. Additional responsibilities include teaching and developing a Music Technology curriculum and private lessons as assigned. This is an unhoused, administrative-faculty position that runs through the regular academic year and Summer Session. The Director works with both academic-year programs and Summer Session programs. Evening and weekend work is required.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in notation, sound, and music production software; in managing Dante networks; and in teaching musicians who are excited to cultivate a growing culture of music technology through curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Graduate degree plus a minimum of three years' teaching and/or managerial experience preferred.
