The National Fleet Director provides oversight for the company's fleet program including: monitoring and managing fleet functions, standardizing vehicle specifications, identifying vendors, administering insurance programs and cost effective vehicle procurement sources, developing and supporting vehicle maintenance programs, and optimizing life cycle costs. The National Fleet Director will report to the CEO to ensure compliance with all operational, legal, regulatory, and client requirements.

The National Fleet Director provides oversight for the company's fleet program including: monitoring and managing fleet functions, standardizing vehicle specifications, identifying vendors, administering insurance programs and cost effective vehicle procurement sources, developing and supporting vehicle maintenance programs, and optimizing life cycle costs. The National Fleet Director will report to the CEO to ensure compliance with all operational, legal, regulatory, and client requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Director, Fleet Services develops standardized vehicle specifications that meet all operational requirements.
- Develops and implements a business strategy and plan to maintain an operationally ready fleet to the field and corporate.
- The Director, Fleet Services identifies vendors and negotiates cost effective vehicle acquisition recommendations.
- Develops and manages a cost effective and efficient maintenance management program.
- The Director, Fleet Services works closely with operation staff to evaluate and approve necessary repairs, identify cost savings opportunities, and achieve optimal fleet utilization.
- Develops and maintains a management system to track and monitor the fleet.
- The Director, Fleet Services performs lifecycle analyses and recommends fleet replacement schedules and costs.
- Provides timely operational and financial reports to management.
- Ensures that review and revision the department's policies and procedures are in compliance with organizational, government (including DOT), contracting clients, and/or outside party's guidelines. Keeps up to date on government regulations and fleet management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience with fleet safety platforms (e.g. Samsara, Lytx)
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in managing multi-location & DOT certified fleets.
- Extensive knowledge of the practices, policies, regulations (government/environmental), procedures and materials involved in fleet management.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to negotiate cost effective fleet acquisition, maintenance, and disposal contracts.
- A high level of technical aptitude to evaluate and recommend repairs.
- Ability to develop and maintain a budget.
- Ability to set standards and procedures to establish satisfactory levels of performance, quality and productivity.
- Ability to identify and implement an automated fleet management system.
- Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques.
- Sound and effective leadership skills.
- Ability to write reports, memorandum, policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Ability to travel with overnight stays.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
