Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced National Lead, Procurement, to join our growing team who will play a critical role in leading the procurement strategy, vendor management, and inventory management for surgical supplies, medical equipment, and services to ensure high quality patient care, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of all centres within the network. The National Lead, Procurement, will collaborate closely with operations managers, local procurement and inventory teams, and senior leadership to optimize purchasing decisions and ensure quality and compliance with healthcare regulations. An individual who has a mindset for continuous improvement, results orientation, and enjoys a fast-paced environment will succeed in this role.

Strategic Procurement & Inventory Oversight

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of goods and services needed for optimal operations, working closely with operational teams, Chief Medical Officer, and centre medical committees, to anticipate needs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities on national and regional supplies without compromising quality or patient care, including bulk purchasing, group buying agreements, and strategic sourcing.
  • Implement best practices for procurement and inventory management across all centres, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and financial controls.
  • Establish and oversee internal controls related to the procurement cycle, and controls of receiving and reconciling inventory at all locations.
  • Maintain up-to-date supply listings and pricing for treasury functions and local procurement teams.
  • Mentor and support local procurement and inventory teams, ensuring compliance with vendor agreements.


Vendor Relations & Contract Administration

  • Negotiate and manage national contracts for supplies and services across ten centres in Canada.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships to support patient care, reliable supply, and organizational growth, including managing supplier scorecards.
  • Track and report vendor rebates, ensuring contractual targets are achieved.


Capital Equipment & Asset Management

  • Support capital expenditures, ensuring purchases align with quality, service, and financial considerations.
  • Manage all requests for proposal processes from end to end as required
  • Collaborate with regional sites to ensure assets are utilized efficiently and effectively, minimizing downtime, decreasing costs associated with lost or damaged items, and coordinating transportation between centres when necessary.
  • Implement systems and processes for requesting, tracking, and managing company assets, including tracking assets by location, condition, and usage.


Strategic Sourcing & Compliance

  • Develop and communicate procurement strategies that maximize contract incentives and optimize costs, including regular reporting and financial analysis to operations and senior management.
  • Lead the implementation of procurement and inventory management software in collaboration with IT Director, as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual requirements.
  • Identify potential risks associated with vendors and suppliers, such as supply chain disruptions, financial instability, or non-compliance with regulations.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies, including contingency plans and alternative sourcing options.


Desired Qualifications

  • 5-10 years in supply chain management, with a focus on procurement and inventory management, preferably in the healthcare industry
  • Proven experience in overseeing the effective management of a supply chain program including delivering on a cost-savings program
  • Excellent understanding of best practices for procurement and inventory management
  • Have successfully executed on a procurement optimization plan
  • Preferred experience in implementing procurement and inventory management systems for multiple locations within an organizational network
  • Be a high-energy, self-starter with a sense of urgency in initiating and implementing best practices in a complex, multi-faceted business environment.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of accurately reporting financial analysis, providing and managing financial solutions for senior management and the board of directors.
  • Be a team player capable of interacting professionally with both staff and clients.
  • Exhibit the ability to function in a collaborative, dynamic, and fast-paced work environment.
  • Possess experience with multi-site operations and/or healthcare as an asset.
  • French language skills are an asset.


Location

  • Toronto, ON (Hybrid Role)
  • 20% travel within Canada required
