Primary Purpose

This position in Gas Acquisition provides transactional analysis and gas scheduling, working closely with traders and other schedulers, with oversight and supervision by senior members of the team to optimize and accurately provide pipeline activities on multiple pipelines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Schedules single pipes for core gas purchases on intra and interstate pipelines including Rocky Mountain, California, Southwest and other interstate gas supplies.
  • Analyzes deliveries and gas supplies and communications with suppliers, pipelines, and plant operators to resolve delivery issues and optimize receipts. Analyzes capacity availability and cost, and routes core gas supplies to minimize cost.
  • Works with Gas Accounting group to reconcile any discrepancies between the pipelines and suppliers' invoices and Pinnacle gas management system (internal database system).
  • Work with IT on any internal database (Pinnacle) Scheduling module enhancements.
  • Assists in providing data and in responding to any Federal and State regulatory and internal data requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Engineering or Accounting degree or equivalent experience. Required

Experience
  • 2-3 years - Analytical experience Required
  • Data systems experience. Preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic understanding of the movement of natural gas, pipeline tariffs, multiple electronic bulletin boards, internal tracking system, and is capable of tracking transactions from inception to month-end close with close supervision. Beginner
  • Strong working knowledge of pipeline transportation grid in the Western United States and Canada. Beginner
  • Strong working knowledge of natural gas industry structure, contracting practices, capacity brokering and supply basin economics. Beginner
  • Critical thinking skills. Intermediate
  • Team player. Advanced
  • Strong communication skills. Intermediate
  • Comfortable with short deadlines, working under pressure, and dealing with data and numbers. Advanced
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Intermediate

Other Qualifications
  • Work weekend on-call rotations
