- Researches, develops, implements, and evaluates NAVWAR reference sensor technology, reference system integration, and fusion techniques.
- Conduct tests, evaluations, and research using scientific and engineering principles.
- Executes modeling and simulation in support of research objectives using models such as GPS Interference and Navigation Tool (GIANT).
- Implements algorithms in scripting programming languages such as MATLAB and Python, as well as compiled programming languages such as C/C++ and Java.
- Works within an interdisciplinary team to integrate sensors and algorithms into larger systems.
- Conceives and validates requirements, performs contract management, and conducts in-house NAVWAR research.
- Conducts analysis and writes technical reports or/and research papers documenting experiments, results, methods, tools, and techniques used to accomplish NAVWAR research.
- Prepares and conducts briefings to peers, leadership and the science and technology community.
- Requires the use of judgment and originality in the development of techniques and approaches to provide PNT in GPS challenged environments.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of and expertise in efforts that increase the availability, precision, and accuracy of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies in contested and denied environments; knowledge of and experience in current and emerging Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) architectures, applications, systems, and subsystems.
- Position will be filled using occupational series within the SCIENTIST AND ENGINEERING career field. Applicant must be able to meet the OPM Qualification Standards of the position being filled. - This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Engineering & Technical Management (N), 2 - Practitioner Non-Critical acquisition certification. The selectee must meet or be capable of achieving acquisition certification within (60 months) after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points every 24 months. *Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills for technical and senior leader audiences.
- Ability to perform TDY travel approximately 20% time.
- Position is eligible for situational telework and will require routine mission travel, regular classified engagements, and in-person meetings that cannot always be scheduled around a regular/recurring telework schedule. Employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.
Desired Qualifications
- A Master's Degree from an accredited school is highly desired.
- Applicants must list on their resume any Master's or advanced education degrees, as well as, completion dates for Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE) or Senior Developmental Education (SDE).
