Job Title - Business Development OfficerStatus - Full Time Location - Brooklyn, NY and Staten Island, NY
Job Summary
Develop, enhance and coordinate new commercial customer relationships and territorial growth, through appropriate product analysis and application to increase the Bank's presence in the market. Responsible for developing new business relationships while maintaining and expanding current business relationships to increase deposit growth and contribute to overall achievement of annual goals.
Essential Functions
1. Develop business banking strategies in order to sell products and services to prospective clients. Plan short-term and long-term business objectives, including preparing and updating business plans. Stay current on trends in market data and local businesses.
2. Maintain a list of potential prospects, referrals and active and viable leads to develop new business and expand current client base
3. Identify existing customers with additional profit potential and develop action plans to expand those relationships
4. Conduct regular sales calls to effectively uncover and assess financial needs of prospects and existing customers in order to provide relevant information and make appropriate recommendations on products and services
5. Maintain advanced knowledge of all products and services to aid in comprehensive discussions with customers and prospects
6. Make follow-up sales calls to existing customers to ensure continued satisfaction with products and services. Ensures sales accounts are serviced in accordance with Bank standards and policies.
7. Achieve established goals for both deposit and non-deposit products (e.g., commercial loans and insurance-related products) through active participation in sales management and business calling program
8. Develop strategic partnerships with Bank colleagues to support business development and knowledge base:
Develop cohesive relationship with Branch Management for assigned territory. Partner with Branch Managers to conduct joint sales calls, when appropriate. Assist Branch Management with sales and service training for branch staff, as needed. Work as strategic partner with Relationship Manager to bring in new clients and maintain existing customers Partner with the Operations department to answer any operations-related questions from customers that may not come through the branches Collaborate with other Business Development Officers by sharing market trends and data, as well as, lessons learned
9.Regular involvement in community-based organizations to support local businesses, increase Northfield's presence in the area and to network and potentially expand potential customer base
a)Represent Northfield at community-based luncheons, dinners and special events, as necessary
b)Volunteer with community-based organizations as a representative of the Bank. Hold Board position with the organizations when possible.
10. Compliance with all relevant Bank policies and procedures
11.Will require routine travel throughout defined market for business calls, business meetings and training.
