Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 48-hour Rotating Shifts (4x12-hour shifts per week)

Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Experience: Minimum 2 years

License: Must hold an unencumbered nursing license prior to start

Certifications:
- Registered Nurse license (Compact State Agreement accepted)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of start date
- Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) preferred

Must-Have: Temporary RN license accepted prior to start; ND RN Graduate Work Authorization considered prior to start (valid for up to 90 days after issue or upon notification of the NCLEX results, whichever occurs first)

Job Description:
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the organization.
- Maintain necessary knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
- Facilitate coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary team and provide patient education for safe discharge.
- Perform daily rounds, ensuring quality customer service by addressing unmet requirements.
- Develop a care plan based on assessment of the patient's physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
- Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions.
- Identify early warning signs of condition changes and respond appropriately.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for adverse patient developments.
- Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate team member and record observations accurately.
- Ensure prompt intervention or referrals as needed.
- Complete and submit incident reports prior to end of shift.
- Establish and maintain communication and utilize educational opportunities with patients and significant individuals.
- Begin discharge planning and provide counseling based on identified needs to optimize patient/family understanding.
- Evaluate and document according to standard procedures.
- Assign or delegate nursing interventions safely within the scope of practice and competence.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet department/organization needs.
