Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
  • Lead clinical practice engagement activities with our partners at UCH, ROH, MLH, Satellite, Davita, Fresenius, etc.
  • Act as a liaison for UCH administration with the faculty and communicate information in both directions.
  • Lead strategic development for the UTHSC Division of Nephrology clinical mission.
  • Align the Division clinical efforts with UTHSC and UCH priorities.
  • Coordinate and manage the clinical performance expectations for the providers at all applicable sites.
  • Quality: Lead and continuously review the patient care activities in the Division's clinics, dialysis units, and hospital sites. Oversee quality, safety and timeliness of services provided by faculty and trainee physicians and take appropriate action based on any findings.
  • Clinical Operations:
    • Lead the Department's plans to maintain and increase patient access for all clinical services.
    • Continue to review models for the use of Advanced Practice Providers throughout the Division
    • Manage, with UCH administration, the clinical, regulatory, and financial performance of the division in all practice locations.
    • Maintain responsibility for the division's compliance with UCH Practice Standards and Guidelines.
    • Seek and encourage operational improvements particularly those impacting clinical workflow.
    • Conduct or attend meetings with staff, clinicians, and Administration.
  • Collaborate with the Chief to assist in the interview and on boarding of clinical faculty.
  • Mediate conflicts between physicians, staff, UCH administration, or others as required.
  • Work with UCH on operating budgets as well as respond to monthly financial reports, productivity, and performance statistics.
  • Serve as a resource to UTHSC to develop new programs.
  • Attend pertinent meetings or other events as requested by the Chief/UTHSC/UCH administration.
  • Represent the chief on clinical committees and task forces as requested.
  • Assign committee and operational responsibilities to other clinicians.
  • Routinely communicate to clinicians in the division on any updated activities.

  • This position will teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows.

    This position will be 90% patient care with training Nephrology fellows, and 10% of teaching & research.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications: Qualified applicants must have an MD degree, be eligible for Tennessee Licensure, and be board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
