Job Summary

The Network Administrator's primary job function is to maintain network hardware and software systems that make up the local and wide area networks in support of the organization's strategic objectives, risk reduction, and emerging technologies. This includes the maintenance and monitoring of LAN, internet, wireless, and VoIP systems and related hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network management, project management (PM) skills, and the ability to create technical documentation/diagrams and procedural documentation. Collaboration and teamwork are critical to our team's success and efficiency. While each role on the team brings specialized skills, valuable contributions, and a unique perspective; we function as a single unit and partner in the delivery, maintenance, and support of a secure and reliable IT infrastructure. All job competencies are performed in collaboration with the IT Operations Manager and peers.

Job Specific Competencies
  • Configures, administers, maintains and monitors the performance of Wide Area and Local Area Network systems (voice and data) to ensure stability, reliability and availability.
  • Configures, administers, and oversees maintenance of network services.
  • Configures, administers, and oversees maintenance of Cisco enterprise systems including Unified Communications (VoIP, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Wireless, ISE, etc.).
  • Configures, administers, and oversees maintenance of VPN and associated remote access management.
  • Assists the Systems Administrator with managing the following items: Web, Email and Mobile device management and security.
  • Configures, and oversees performance of operating and maintenance procedures, as directed by management, including but not limited to system backups, system updates, routine preventive maintenance and changes of software and hardware.
  • Provides support to users with server or network related problems.
  • Provides 24/7 trouble alert monitoring (via mobile device) for network infrastructure.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical information in simple terms end-users can understand.
  • Participates in the long-range IT planning, capacity planning and equipment budget development.
  • Exemplifies excellent customer relations with employees, vendors and contractors; shows courtesy, friendliness, helpfulness, and respect.
  • Carries out all the above duties for all site locations of CVCH. May be required to travel to each site location on a scheduled basis to perform position duties.

  • Job Specifications

    1. Education: Minimum 2-year degree in technology related field. Work experience may be substituted for education.

    2. Certification/Licensure: Microsoft Certified, A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, CCNP strongly preferred. Must be actively pursuing an industry certification measured by successfully passing a certification exam while employed at CVCH if a valid certification is not currently held.

    3. Experience: Three or more years of experience (preferred) administering a mid-sized to large multi-location computing environment including experience with Microsoft, Cisco.

    4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Technical proficiency and knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, enterprise-level systems/apps, and cloud computing. Experience administering and managing Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Cisco technologies, VMWare, and data storage/back-up solutions. Effectively applies problem-solving methods and techniques.

    5. Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other staff and management. Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining productive work teams. Ability to demonstrate personal integrity in all interactions. Exhibit strong customer service skills through active listening, empathy, and a sense of urgency.

    6. Essential Physical Requirements: This job is performed mostly in a typical inside, office environment. Essential physical requirements of this job include light physical effort; repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers; standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling; frequent sitting; lifting and/or moving items up to 50 pounds, with assistance as needed; ability to read forms and computer screens and to read correspondence and other documents.

    7. Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions, ability to read and interpret technical materials, and the ability to be organized and attentive to detail. Problem solving and analytical skills are required with a heavy emphasis on detailed analysis of information to support actions.

    8. Essential Sensory Requirements: The role requires the ability to read and interpret information from computer keyboards, monitors, and documents, as well as prepare and analyze various documents. Extensive reading is necessary, along with the ability to see, recognize, and process detailed information. Effective and accurate communication, both orally and via telephone, is essential. Additionally, the role involves providing clear and precise instructions in person and over the phone.

    9. Exposure to Hazards: May be exposed to electrical shock. Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions on a frequent basis with moderate noise. May be exposed to outside working conditions when traveling to other work sites.

    Each year after that employee will accrue 8 hours of PTO each year, on their anniversary date, until they reach a maximum of 208 hours at 10+ years.

    Paid Leave may be used immediately for sick leave and after 3 months employment for vacation. Maximum accrual cap of 320 hours; hours in excess of 320 hours will automatically transfer into the employees EIB.

    Extended Illness Bank (EIB)

    Allows for maximum accrual of 200 hours

    PTO hours in excess of 320 will transfer into EIB. Employees are eligible to use EIB hours after at least 3 consecutive scheduled working days of PTO (max 24 hours) which have been used for a personal illness and/or a qualifying event under FMLA or the WA Family Care Act.

If an employee starts after the calendar year has begun, holiday hours will be prorated based on remaining holidays in the calendar year and diversity days will be prorated as outlined below:
    Jan 1- April 30: 3 diversity days (24 hours if 1.0 FTE)
    May 1 - August 31: 2 diversity days (16 hours if 1.0 FTE)
    Sept 1 - Dec 31: 1 diversity day (8 hours if 1.0 FTE)
