Job Summary and Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

GENERAL:

The position provides enterprise networking services and support for HCA, a global Fortune 100 company. This team often interacts with other HCA teams, business partners, vendors, and others, to effectively meet the business objectives and service level agreements of HCA.

SPECIFIC:

The NAS team is a high-performance team comprised of self-motivated network engineers whose primary responsibilities are top-tier network support (a.k.a. "break/fix"), critical escalations, and network Major Incident Response Team (MIRT) engagement. Team members are expected to respond promptly to infrastructure alerts, escalations by customers and/or company leadership and expected to respond immediately to patient and/or business impacting critical and MIRT events, as well as keep the team's tickets in up-to-date status and the ticket queue at a low unassigned count.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include knowledge and/or experience with but are not limited to the following.
Follow company standards, best practices, and documentation policies
Be able to work in a collaborative environment
Usage of terminal emulators (i.e., MobaXterm, PuTTY/SuperPuTTY, SecureCRT)
Knowledge of ServiceNow and/or Remedy ticketing systems will be helpful
Knowledge and/or experience of network monitoring, logging, and event tools
Troubleshooting/analyzing network traffic (switches/routers/firewalls, etc.)
Utilization of network monitoring tools, (i.e.: Splunk, NetFlow, Wireshark, Thousand Eyes, etc.)
In-depth understanding of the 7-layer OSI model
Knowledge/understanding of IP addressing, variable length subnet masking
Knowledge of Layer 1 technologies (i.e.: fiber, copper, patch panels, and connector types)
Knowledge of Layer 2 technologies including VTP, 802.1Q trunking, spanning-tree, VLANs
Knowledge/understanding of WAN technology (i.e.: MPLS, VPLS)
General knowledge/understanding of Software Defined Network (SDN)
Troubleshoot/configure data center technologies (Nexus, ACI, VXLAN)
Troubleshoot/configure BGP/OSPF
Troubleshoot/configure network security technologies (i.e.: firewalls and proxies)
Troubleshoot/configure endpoint remote access solutions (i.e. Meraki, AnyConnect, Zscaler, etc.)
Troubleshoot/configure B2B VPN technologies (i.e.: Site to Site VPN)
Troubleshoot/configure load-balancing technologies (i.e.: f5 and/or A10)
Knowledge and/or experience of enterprise wireless technologies
Implementing adds/moves/changes for network technologies
Software/hardware device upgrades, LAN equipment configurations/provisioning
Knowledge and/or experience of network security technologies (i.e.: firewall and proxies)
Knowledge and/or experience of remote access/VPN technologies
Local area travel to all corporate campus buildings for network support may be required
Deploy/maintain complex nation-wide, enterprise WAN/LAN solutions, switching/routing technologies and topologies. (admin, deployment, troubleshoot experience is preferred)
Basic troubleshooting of WLAN
Certification, Proof of Concept, and/or integration testing
Meet ITG change management and project management requirements
Minimal travel for network analysis, network upgrades and customer network consultations
Act as a technical resource for projects, ensuring work is being completed accurately and on-time
OSPF/BGP routing protocols, IP advertising/filtering/redistribution, Quality of Service, IP multicast
Engineering consultations for Level III network troubleshooting/problem resolution, protocol analysis, network troubleshooting/problem determination skills with network trace/capture/analysis software
Understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
Network impact analysis, modeling, network capacity planning
Software/hardware device upgrades, LAN equipment configurations/provisioning
IP addressing, variable length subnet masking
Networking services such as AAA, DHCP, DNS, ICMP and SNMP
Design and implementation for network security technologies and products (Cisco ASA, Check Point, Juniper SSL and Citrix NetScaler)
Enterprise WLAN experience a plus
Creating/maintaining/following network standards and policies/procedural documentation and enterprise-level network diagramming
Working with vendors on product design enhancements to integrate new technologies
Meet ITG change management and project management requirements
Minimal travel for network analysis, network upgrades and customer network consultations
Act as a technical resource for efforts/projects, ensuring work is being completed accurately and on-time

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

Qualified candidates must have 3 years of networking experience required

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

CompTIA or Cisco CCNA certifications or equivalent experience preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be responsive, responsible, and punctual
Must be able to excel in a great team environment
Must be able to function autonomously, when needed
Must show a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
Must be willing/able to participate in on-call rotation - this is required

WORKING CONDITIONS & POSSIBLE PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Possible prolonged sitting at workstation
Professional attire and conduct are required at all locations
After-hours and/or weekend work will be required occasionally
Nashville area employees are required in-office a minimum of 2 days per week, sometimes more
Nashville area employees may be required to support network for Corporate Campus buildings
Should be able to lift network components to build, rack, and configure devices
