The Senior Network Engineer - Team Lead, has responsibility for the technical design and operational support of the firm's data and voice services. While the position is based in Boston, the role is global. The successful candidate will lead a local team in Boston to provide and manage network infrastructure in U.S, Europe and Asia.

This is a hands-on technical team leadership position. This position requires detailed technical knowledge, excellent support skills, long and short term planning. Ability to see and troubleshoot daily operational problems within the context of longer-term, higher-level network strategies and directions is essential.

  • Telephony based Dealer Platform Services
Key Responsibilities

Lead
  • Defines and maintains the technical design for our global voice, data, video and wireless networks.
  • Establishes the policies, standards, procedures and methods to achieve same.
  • Maintains responsibility for the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of network problems.
  • Maintains responsibility for Network
    • Hardware lifecycle management (design/deploy/MAC/decomm)
    • Configuration management (design/deploy/MAC/decomm)
    • Capacity, Change, Monitoring, Security policy Management
Assist
BCP/DR activity management
Audit Management
Vendor Management

Team: Has the personal presence and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with fellow staff. Motivates others to apply their knowledge and skills. Provides advice and guidance to less experienced colleagues on all aspects of network and telephony design and operation.

  • Advanced networking skills. i.e. CCNP+/CCIE Level.

  • Networking and Communications: Highly proficient in the planning and management of the interaction between networks, e.g. Topological design, IP Addressing, Routing protocols.
  • Telecommunications Protocols: Proficient in the rules for the inter-operation of networking components. Key Protocols: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SNMP, OSPF, BGP.
  • Network Traffic Analysis: Proficient in the methods and techniques for the capture of traffic information and the analysis of this information into its constituent elements.
  • Industry Standards: Proficient in the standards associated with IT practice. E.g.: IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet), ITU (T) H (Audiovisual and multimedia systems), ETSI EN 302 307 (Digital Video Broadcasting), ISO20000 (Service Management), ISO 27000 (Information Security Management Systems). 802.11x (Wireless)
  • Operational/Service Architecture: Good familiarity with the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems etc.), IT applications and change management processes used within the firm.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science with an emphasis on technical IT
5-7 years' experience in voice, data, video and wireless network infrastructures and services in a complex corporate environment.
Has extensive knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of a wide range of communications systems, networks, and software, hardware and carrier services.
