Do you have a background in networking products along with a solid understanding of network security and monitoring? If so, this position may be the right fit for you! Founders is searching for a Network Engineer to join our growing Information Technology department. This position is located on site at our Corporate Headquarters in Lancaster, SC. Remote work is not available, however the individual may be able to work at our Rock Hill Center upon completion of training.

The Network Engineer is responsible for the operation of data communications, LAN/WAN environment, servers, hardware and software deployments. This role involves managing and optimizing network infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, and maintaining robust security measures.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Configure, manage, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other network devices and systems, to ensure optimal performance and security. This includes, but is not limited to, software/hardware upgrades, patches, repairs or replacements.
  • Install and integrate network, server and security devices into the enterprise, as new technology emerges, while adhering to business hardening standards
  • Maintain network security through the evaluation and monitoring of security standards and access controls.
  • Maintain network performance goals through monitoring and analysis, to proactively identify and address potential issues, before they impact business operations, ensuring high availability and minimizing downtime.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including network baseline performance goals, topology drawings, data flow maps, third party connections, security infrastructure, configuration settings, procedures and incident resolutions.
  • Responsible for adhering to change management processes, incident response, and testing methodologies for modifications to systems and software. This includes anticipating, mitigating, identifying, responding to, troubleshooting and resolving issues with the systems and software.
  • Actively maintain and document assigned tickets in the change control system.
  • Ensure RTA and BCP/BIA testing is completed in areas of system ownership. Assist system owners when required to perform their testing on new and existing systems.
  • Work closely with other IT team members, to align network strategies with organizational goals and requirements.
  • Work with the CSOC team to research and remediate network vulnerabilities, found during enterprise vulnerability assessments.
  • Participate in network security assessments, disaster recovery testing, vulnerability scans, and remediations; respond to and mitigate security incidents effectively.
  • Comply with Founders' policies and procedures, as well applicable laws, regulations, and statutes issued by federal agencies such as NCUA and FFIEC, including, but not limited to, GLBA and BSA. Employees have legal and regulatory obligations to respect and protect the privacy of information and its integrity and confidentiality.
  • Provide after-hours support for network issues, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
  • Rotate on call duties for network and data center alerts.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Job Specifications:

    The Network Engineer should possess strong technical skills necessary to support the credit union's current and emerging technologies. The ability to analyze, research and explain technical details effectively is required. The Network Engineer must also follow the asset management lifecycle process and procedures, to support efforts in maintaining an accurate and efficient configuration management inventory database. He/She must maintain a knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Response teams, as defined in the Incident Response Plan.

    A bachelor's degree or five plus years of previous work experience, with networking systems, servers and application support is required. Advanced networking design skills and knowledge of Cisco infrastructure is required.

    Must adhere to the principle of least privilege to reduce the risk, of unauthorized access, to critical systems or sensitive data. By maintaining account permissions to accounts, processes and programs only required to do the job assigned.

    Due to the nature of project deadlines and end of period processing schedules, evening and weekend work will be required. This position will also require occasional travel.
