Provides direction and oversight for the planning, engineering, deployment, support and maintenance of the District's technology infrastructure.

Education/Certification:
Infrastructure Engineering
Analyze current network state and develop recommendations and strategies that provide opportunities for improvement. Work to conform currently deployed network infrastructure to industry and District standards. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Develop and implement network standards documentation for facilities improvements and/or upgrades. Develop, implement and regularly review disaster recovery plan and procedures. Operations Support: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for network related operations. Analyze routine system monitoring data for anomalous activity patterns and work with appropriate network team to implement corrective actions. Design and implement backup procedures to ensure that backup of all mission critical servers is performed on a regular basis. Escalation Support:
Provide internal engineering (Level 3) escalation support for network, server and integration related issues as documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Provide Engineering (Level 3) escalation resource for issues related to: network provider interaction, and upper-level support interaction with vendors and partners as required. Documentation:
Document the Districts' current infrastructure deployment. Maintain change management documentation to reflect changes to the infrastructure. Strategic Planning:
Assess budget requirements related to recommended improvements or changes. Identify and recommend the acquisition of software and hardware to meet the automation and networking needs of District stakeholders. Identify approaches that leverage our existing resources and provide economies of scale. Cyber Security:
Assist Cybersecurity Coordinator in meeting State of Texas requirements for Cybersecurity. Analyze current cybersecurity posture. Assist with draft and completion of working cybersecurity plan. Make recommendations for, and implement improvements to cybersecurity. Staff Management:
Assists with identify and interviewing candidates for vacant positions within the Network Operations team. Account for staff worktimes and schedules. Assign regular duty and project task to direct reports. Evaluate staff performance on a yearly basis. Provide feedback as needed to ensure staff success. Recommend staff development opportunities to improve staff skill sets and improve retention. Other:
Assists with identifying, preparing and monitoring annual departmental budget. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Ensure confidentiality of staff and student data per the requirements established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed. Be punctual in all areas. Maintain a positive attitude. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree or (15) fifteen years of experience in Network Infrastructure.
- Network Certifications preferred, including but not limited to: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE and/or other specializations.
- Physical plant certifications preferred, including but not limited to: RCDD with ANSI/BICSI-[redacted].
- Must have (15) years of engineering network infrastructure from OSI Layers 1 through 7.
- Must have (15) years of experience working with Active Directory and the Microsoft Server environment.
- Experience with K-12 Institutions is preferred.
- Documented experience designing and implementing carrier grade fiber Metropolitan Area Networks.
- Documented design and installation of Local Area Networks.
- Knowledge of the OSI model and its application to design and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of network hardware and protocols including: TCP/IP and IEEE 802.X standards.
- Working knowledge of: DNS, BGP, OSPF, CDP, etc.
- Experience designing networks to work with various operating systems within an IP network including: Windows 10/11, Chrome OS, IOS, Linux derivatives and various IOT devices.
- Documented competency with computer hardware and software applications.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure management.
- PMP or Project management skills are a plus.
- Ability to work interactively and delegate tasks to appropriate staff as necessary.
- Background assessing staff work performance and planning professional development.
- Experience assessing cost and return on investment for recommended technology upgrades.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
