BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of this job is to provide high level network engineering support for TEC's broadband network and other projects as assigned by the Director of Network Operations. This job requires advanced intellectual knowledge, concepts, practices, and procedures in and related to the telecom broadband and networking industry. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This position may perform a variety of tasks. A wide degree of networking knowledge, broadband concepts, creativity, and service provider network experience is expected.

Job Qualifications:
Education/Experience - Network Engineers should have a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or minimum 5 years of specific industry experience including but not limited to: Service Provider Networks, ISP Broadband Networks and WISP Broadband Networks. Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred. Will consider additional industry experience in lieu of degree.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Should have a comprehensive understanding of network services and networks, OSI 7-layer Model including TCP/IP, DataLink, and Physical Layer. Routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and MPLS. Excellent understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes and configuration. Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills and an attention to detail. Ability to provide positive, constructive verbal and written communications. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers and quickly adapt to changes in process, requirements, goals, and organizational change. Extensive knowledge of Broadband services, Ethernet, xDSL, xPON, voice services, etc. Should be proficient in the use of a personal computer and with Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office suites. Should have general knowledge of Linux operating systems and a strong understanding of Telecommunications operations. Prefer networking certifications, e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.

- Implement, maintain, and trouble shoot routing technologies, subscriber layer transport operations and end-to-end transport connectivity within TEC's multi-state broadband network.
- Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks, OSI 7-layer Model including TCP/IP, DataLink, and Physical Layer. Routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and MPLS.
- Execute the provisioning and maintenance of IPv4 and IPv6 based devices, networks and Internet services provided to client companies and their customers.
- Monitor and maintain devices and systems used in the deployment of IP, Ethernet, xPON, FTTH, xDSL, Broadband Access and Voice services
- In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as firewalls, load balancers, CGNAT appliances and operational management systems.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently.
- Implement and troubleshoot related network and security infrastructure.
- Ability to engage with other carriers and service providers
- Project and time management skillset is essential.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from initial approval through implementation
- Communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology.
