As a Network Engineer on this program, you will be a member of a team that interacts with technical and non-technical teammates, including customers and vendors. You will be looked at as a subject matter expert in all things related to the MDA network, including the Transport, IP and DC power infrastructure in multiple environments. In this role, you will provide technical assistance, administer configurations, support testing, recommend enhancements, and troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with various network components.

Our customer, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), provides, operates, and assures command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to the warfighter, national leaders and other mission and coalition partners across the department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Proficient knowledge of various network hardware equipment specifications, configuration and testing processes, and industry specifications.
- Provide technical operational support to the Defense Information Systems Agency Network by installing and configuring network systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults, solving technical and application problems via phone, in person, or logging into the devices. (Cisco Transport Controller, Cisco Prime Optical, Ciena One Control, GIG Interconnection Approval Process database)
- Perform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execution of all reporting functions, and complete data input associated with new service activations to ensure they are implemented in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards.
- Experience with DWDM, OTN, IP, and encryption (Ciena, Cisco, Juniper) devices.
- Assist technicians with various types of telecom analyze and test equipment and bit error rate cell test sets (ACTERN, Firebird, Digital Lightwave).
- Utilize systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements in support of Defense Information Systems Agency resources.
- Design and implement solutions to highly technical problems through testing, documentation, and modification of configuration data on network resources.
- Analyze and ensure all information (POC, location, & interface) is correct and formatted properly according to provided requirements.
- Verify correct points of contact (POC) for each location through which the circuit traverses.
- Engage with the DISA project managers and/or customers to resolve issues with incomplete or unclear requirements.
- Reach out to stakeholders and facilitate approvals as necessary to ensure continual forward progress of the service request.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience; specific years of experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Network engineering, problem management, and performance management experience.
- Experienced knowledge of networking architecture, evaluating, and recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities and performing needs assessments.
- Knowledge of data and voice network design carried over various transmissions systems, router to router connections using military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS, switch-to-switch trunking to include VLANS, and circuit configurations through multiplexers.
- Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (e.g., routers, load balancers, domain name servers, firewalls).
- Knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
- Strong written and verbal communications, team building and collaboration skills.
- An active Secret security clearance is required and ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
- Ability to work in a team environment, but self-driven to complete assignments while continually developing proficiencies in processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience at DISA, or knowledge of DISA systems and processes
- Prior experience with SharePoint data entry, DDOE, or SharePoint order processing.
- Order services on behalf of the customer; input service requests into DISA Storefront (DSF)
- Experience providing customer outreach on all orders to ensure that the POC, location, and interface information is correct.
