The network systems analyst is responsible for the installation, administration, connectivity, operation and maintenance of networking and communications systems including network security systems, firewalls and intrusion detection systems, access control, security systems and surveillance systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or closely related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Required
Valid Texas Driver's License, Required
Cisco CCNA, CCNP or CCIE, Preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:
? Strong ability to think logically and the capacity to understand non-linear sequences.
? Knowledge of Cisco and HPE/Aruba networking hardware.
? Knowledge of the principles and practices of network administration, system access, and security guidelines.
? Knowledge of the principles and practices of voice/video/data transmission technology and applications including voice over IP telephone.
? Knowledge and experience with wireless technologies including encryption.
? Knowledge of general computing including common office suites.
? Strong skills in network interconnectivity including field knowledge of fiber and copper standards and termination.
? Understanding of access control systems.
? Understanding of IP-based surveillance and recording systems.
? Detailed knowledge of Microsoft servers and Active Directory.
? Detailed knowledge of IP data constructs and protocols including DHCP, DNS, Telnet, FTP, and HTTP
? Understanding of Group Policy Objects and the ability to design and implement client policies for the network.
? Understanding of routed networks and specific knowledge of the OSPF routing protocol.
? Understanding of virtual computing.
? Understanding of server storage technologies.
? Understanding of IP-based communications systems.
? Strong interpersonal skills
? Ability to communicate on both technical and non-technical levels
? Ability to read and discern technical documentation.
? Ability to reason and problem solve from diverse sets of data and information.
? Ability to see details of objects and differentiate between colors, shades and brightness both on screen and in person
? Ability to hear small sounds made in noisy environments

Minimum Experience:
Experience in Technical Support, Preferred
Experience with Enterprise Access Control Systems, Preferred
Experience with Virtual Computing and Server Infrastructure, Preferred
Experience in Enterprise Networking, Preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to protect network systems and data.
2. Coordinates with vendors regarding hardware and software maintenance, service level agreement and warranty information for network equipment, WAN equipment and associated software.
3. Coordinates operations with other analysts and departments.
4. Coordinates and leads projects with Computer Analysts.
5. Coordinates projects with outside contractors.
6. Installs, maintains, updates and monitors internal and external district networks.
7. Installs, maintains, updates and monitors virtualized network, server, and storage infrastructure.
8. Analyze and resolve computer network problems in a multiple-operating system environment with specialized software applications and multifaceted hardware platforms.
9. Documents network configuration and security measures.
10. Performs security risk analysis, tracks incident handling and reporting.
11. Assess the need for repair, replacement, upgrade or addition of network components and WAN connectivity.
12. Performs maintenance, administration and support of the district's voice communication systems, including VoIP and analog voice connections.
13. Manages and maintains TCP/IP addressing/submitting using static and dynamic (DHCP) IP address assignment.
14. Preserves confidentiality of any sensitive network information.
15. Prepares reports and presentations related to network security.
16. Researches and analyzes new technologies to improve network efficiency and operation.
17. Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of all district business.
18. Troubleshoots network performance issues and provides recommendations for resolution.
19. Communicate Effectively
20. Performs the essential functions of walking and interacting with students, parents, and district employees at all district sites.
21. Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
22. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
23. Performs other duties as assigned.
