I.M. Systems Group, Inc., IMSG, (www.imsg.com), a science-based company providing professional scientific and technical support to the Federal government, is pursuing an opportunity in Quantification of Water Level Measurement Uncertainty for the NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS). We are soliciting a qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development and exploration of a measurement uncertainty quantification (UQ) method following the latest guidance provided by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM).

REPONSIBILITIES:
Support advancing the exploration and refinement of a method for quantifying measurement uncertainty, in alignment with the contemporary standards observed in the global oceanographic and meteorological measurement communities. The scope of work encompasses data analysis, custom coding, algorithm modification, testing, and documentation of NOAA CO-OPS water level observation systems for the comprehensive identification and quantification of significant sources of measurement error and uncertainty associated with the diverse range of water level sensors utilized by CO-OPS across various coastal environments and conditions. Work location: remote or hybrid with IMSG's corporate offices in Rockville, MD.
REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MS or PhD degree in mathematics, statistics, metrology, or other relevant geophysical or geoscience fields. BS degrees in these fields with demonstrated experience will be considered.
Ideal candidate will be a metrologist, statistician, or mathematician with SME knowledge/experience in the science of measurements.
Experienced with uncertainty quantification (UQ) for measurements from different sensors.
Experienced with field geodetic level survey to nearby benchmarks (datum offset measurement) as part of the UQ component.
Experience in data analysis, custom coding, software design, and algorithm modification.
Proven experience in document drafting, manuscript drafting, and peer-reviewed publications.
Preferrable to have prior working experience in relevant technical capacity in agencies such as the NIST.
U.S. citizenship or green card is required.
