Description:
As the NPI Sourcing Director for the Atlas program, you will spearhead all critical aspects of sourcing strategies and drive the discovery and down-selection of strategic suppliers for this flagship initiative. In this leadership role, you will collaborate closely with our Research & Development (R&D) team and the Technical Program Managers to assess supplier capabilities, select critical supplier partners to support project timelines, cost and performance.
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Supply Chain, this is a hands-on management position where you will be directly responsible for strategic sourcing activities for all Atlas modules, including but not limited to actuators, batteries, and cameras. You will also coordinate strategy with procurement leaders at Hyundai Motor Company.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the "Make vs. Buy" decision-making process for the Atlas robot through strong collaboration with leadership and the R&D function.
- Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies and lead the supplier down-selection process for critical modules such as Actuators, Batteries, and Cameras.
- Proactively build a base of enthusiastic suppliers appropriate for this new industry and strong executive-level relationships.
- Aggressively push through roadblocks and slowdowns at suppliers when encountered.
- Partner closely with the R&D function to achieve cost targets through both design optimization and supplier management.
- Serve as the primary company representative for all interactions and development initiatives with key strategic suppliers up to executive levels.
- Operate with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision to drive sourcing initiatives forward.
- Communicate regularly at the executive level on the status of Atlas sourcing activities, strategy, and commercial topics.
- Actively manage assigned strategic sourcing categories, executing hands-on sourcing activities.
- Manage and mentor a Sourcing Analyst dedicated to the Atlas program.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) Sourcing or Strategic Sourcing, with hands-on involvement in new product development and supplier development.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in people management, including strategy development, goal setting, and KPI definition.
- Experience sourcing for complex electromechanical systems like automotive, robotics, manufacturing equipment, etc.
- Demonstrated strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of driving results within cross-functional, collaborative, and fast-paced environments. Ability to effectively manage expectations, negotiate trade-offs, and prioritize requirements.
- Proficiency in process mapping and process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong 1 ability to understand risks and expectations, and to build effective relationships necessary for establishing a disciplined development process.
- Proven experience negotiating complex agreements and SOW.
- Fluency in Korean is a plus.
