Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Must-Have: Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually
Description:
Administers and records radiopharmaceuticals.
Identifies each patient and confirms date of birth and hospital number.
Achieves venous access and administers radiopharmaceuticals.
Records route of administration, dose, and technologist's initials.
Describes exam to patients, obtains informed consent, and completes necessary paperwork for study input of patient information.
Evaluates requisitions, charts, and lab results.
Performs patient assessments.
Confirms that females of childbearing age are not pregnant.
Arranges for pregnancy testing upon orders from the Nuclear Medicine physician.
May perform advanced duties such as those found in Positron Emission Technology imaging or lead technologist roles.
Handles radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring receipt, proper documentation, and disposal.
Follows guidelines set by relevant regulatory bodies.
Selects radiopharmaceuticals, reviews dosage and quality control, assuring each dose is correct for the ordered procedure.
Sets up acquisition and performs according to protocol while maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety.
Analyzes images and evaluates them for correctness.
Processes films and submits them for physician approval.
Utilizes various systems to generate proper documentation.
Completes all orders with appropriate and accurate charges added.
Uses a transport tracking system to arrange transportation of inpatients to and from the Nuclear Medicine department.
