The Labor and Delivery Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and clinical oversight of the Labor & Delivery unit. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and oversees the operational and administrative functions of the unit, including staffing, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.

Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and clinical oversight of the Labor & Delivery unit. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and oversees the operational and administrative functions of the unit, including staffing, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 24-hour accountability for patient care operations within the unit.
- Oversee daily clinical and operational activities to ensure efficient patient care delivery in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Ensure adherence to professional and regulatory standards and best practices in nursing care.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce standards of nursing practice and patient care.
- Develop and lead quality improvement initiatives aligned with unit goals and patient safety metrics.
- Conduct patient rounds to evaluate care delivery, assess patient and family satisfaction, and intervene as needed.
- Serve as a patient advocate, supporting culturally competent care and navigating ethical or legal issues.
- Promote staff engagement and retention; monitor and address staff turnover.
- Maintain clinical competence through direct involvement in patient care and ongoing presence across shifts.
- Collaborate with clinical educators to develop and implement staff education and training programs.
- Participate in hiring, coaching, and performance management of clinical staff.
- Lead and support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and culture-building activities.
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based practices and drive improvement in quality outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain BSN within two years.
- Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
- 3 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery nursing.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
- 1 year of first-line management or leadership experience in a clinical setting.
