Description:
Reporting to the Associate ChiefNursing Officer, the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner requires a fullunderstanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Redlands CommunityHospital. Through demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill, andcompetence the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care andsupport to the multidisciplinary health team working within the scope ofpractice of a Nurse Practitioner (NP). The Cardiovascular NP is a criticalleadership role responsible for providing both direct patient care and programdevelopment. There will be an initial emphasis on program management anddevelopment with the objective of establishing a Comprehensive Cardiac Centerand a Pulmonary Hypertension Center of Excellence The NP practices incollaboration with the supervising physician. The NP will serve as a clinicalarea expert to include patient care, education, collaboration, and consultationactivities. Assumes responsibility for professional development and programoversight for both Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Hypertension programs. He/She acts as an education advisor to thenursing staff and Managers to identify learning needs and designs, implements,and evaluates standards of practice. The Cardiovascular NP will work closelywith physicians and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes forindividuals with complex cardiovascular disease and pulmonary hypertension.This role is essential in driving evidence-based practice, improving patientcare quality, fostering the professional development of nursing staff, andbeing a clinical bridge between the physicians, interdisciplinary team,administrative/program management team, patients, and families.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduateof an accredited RN and NP program.
2. MSNdegree required.
3. Possessthe knowledge and skills required to meet Redlands Community Hospital medicalstaff criteria, and must be appointed to the medical staff.
4. Minimumtwo (2) years experience in area of specialty preferred.
5. 12 lead ECG and arrhythmiainterpretation.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
1. Current California registered nurse and Nurse Practitionerlicense required.
2. Current DEA certificate required.
3. Current BLS certification by the American Heart Associationrequired.
4. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support required (ACLS).
5. National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner required (AANPor ANCC).
